Long Valley Creek Cleanup: Final Update Crews are wrapping up the storm damage cleanup along Long Valley Creek in Lockwood! Work is on track to be complete by Friday, Oct. 16. Storey County Public Works crews have been removing sediment and other material washed into the creek during this summer’s storms to restore its pre-storm capacity. A big thank you to everyone who helped get this work done: • Storey County Public Works for digging out and removing the material. • Waste Management for providing trucks to help haul it away. • All-Lite Materials for accepting the sediment at no cost to the County for use in its reclamation work. • J-U-B Engineers Inc. for surveying and marking areas to guide the cleanup. This completes the storm damage cleanup. The County’s larger Long Valley Creek improvement project is a separate effort focused on longer-term improvements to reduce future flood impacts. Thank you, Lockwood residents, for your patience while crews worked in the area! Alt text: Four photos show cleanup progress along Long Valley Creek in Lockwood. We have a quick schedule update regarding the Long Valley Creek Cleanup. We previously shared that cleanup would wrap up by Oct. 16, but a little more work remains. Storey County Public Works crews will be in the area Oct. 19–23 to haul rock and other materials, potentially place rock along the ditch to help protect it from erosion, and restore areas used for truck access. Crews expect this to be the final week of cleanup work. This work is separate from the County’s larger Long Valley Creek improvement project, which focuses on longer-term improvements to reduce future flood impacts. Thank you, Lockwood residents, for your continued patience!

Mark Twain Road Rehabilitation Project: Schedule Update We have an updated construction schedule for the Mark Twain Road Rehabilitation Project. Paving is now planned for Oct. 16 and 19–21. Please check the map to see when crews are scheduled to pave your section. The highlighted areas are approximate. Paving dates and work areas may change due to weather, field conditions, or unforeseen delays, including traffic delays affecting deliveries of paving materials. Here’s the latest planned schedule: • Oct. 15–16: Grading to prepare the road base. • Oct. 16, blue section: Paving on the northern portion of Sutro Springs Road and a small section of Territory Road. • Oct. 19, red section: Paving on the middle portion of Sutro Springs Road. • Oct. 20, green sections: Paving on the southern portion of Sutro Springs Road and the northern portion of Sam Clemens Avenue. • Oct. 21, purple section: Paving on the remaining portion of Sam Clemens Avenue. • Oct. 19–30: Shouldering work along the edges of the pavement. • Nov. 2–6: Road striping and sign installation. On the day your section is paved, access to homes and driveways may be temporarily restricted between approximately 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Flaggers will help residents get in and out when possible, but vehicles cannot drive on newly placed asphalt until it has cooled enough to prevent damage. If you have a delivery scheduled during paving, please share this schedule with your provider so they can plan around access restrictions and possible delays. Please expect increased truck traffic and large equipment in the area. Emergency vehicles will continue to have access as needed. Work currently under contract is expected to be complete by Nov. 6. Additional drainage work is being considered and, if added, could extend the schedule by about one week. Thank you, Mark Twain residents, for your patience and cooperation. We’ll continue sharing updates as work progresses. Alt text: Aerial map showing approximate paving areas for the Mark Twain Road Rehabilitation Project.
