3:48 pm update: a line of severe thunderstorms producing 60 to 70 mph winds are approaching the KS/MO state line. Most of the KC metro is under a severe thunderstorm warning through 4:30 pm.

Did you attend Lee's Summit North High School's recent robotics competition? (March 29th - April 1st) The Jackson County Health Department is investigating an outbreak of an unidentified gastrointestinal illness among attendees at this event. So far 70+ cases have been reported. Symptoms are generally mild and the risk to the public is low. The vast majority of sick participants recovered at home within 48 hours without medical intervention. If you or a household member were associated with this event, the Jackson County Health Department encourages you to complete our survey so that we can gather more information. This survey was sent out through your competition coordinator. If you did not receive a survey, please reach out to our Epidemiology division at JacksonCountyCD@uhkc.org.

Per the Mid-America Regional Council, metro-wide there were 139 new COVID hospitalizations yesterday (Tuesday 7/27), the highest one day total since January 26th. The daily average has essentially doubled in July, if it doubles again we’ll be above the peak we were at last winter
