1/6: I am excited to share our multi-institutional F-SHARP phase I/II trial, now published in @JCO_ASCO! doi.org/10.1200/JCO-25-02730 There are limited prospective data defining the optimal management of intraprostatic radiorecurrence (IPR) after definitive RT for prostate cancer. We asked: 1. Is dose-escalated focal salvage high dose rate brachytherapy safe and effective for IPR? 2. Can Decipher (@Veracyte) identify patients with higher risk of recurrence with salvage ReRT that may benefit from therapeutic intensification? 🧵👇

What if METTL3 drives androgen receptor activity in prostate cancer—but not through its m6A catalytic function? A non-enzymatic role for METTL3 as an Androgen Receptor co-regulator that promotes prostate cancer proliferation Metastatic #ProstateCancer remains a leading cause of male cancer mortality, with most therapies targeting androgen receptor (AR) signaling. This study 🧬identifies METTL3, an m6A RNA methyltransferase component, as an AR coregulator with a non-enzymatic role. METTL3 is elevated in prostate tumors and AR-expressing cells, supports cancer cell proliferation, interacts with AR, and promotes AR chromatin occupancy. Its catalytic activity is dispensable, revealing METTL3 as a potential therapeutic target in AR-driven prostate cancer. @SteveKregel @DrFanning @D_Vander_Griend @abhiAsolanki @gupta_go @PushpinderBawa @OncoAlert 🚨 @Silke_Gillessen @AOmlin @ProfKHerrmann @weoncologists 👉Link to Article in first comment

Fascinating talk by Dr. Ayesha Shafi #PCFAcademy @PCF_Science on the emerging roles of CRY1, a key negative regulator of the circadian clock, in shaping the metabolic state of prostate cancer. Despite our understanding that virtually every cell in the body functions according to an intricate circadian rhythm, the role of circadian regulators in PCa remains remarkably understudied. The presentation highlighted the potential importance of this biology and raised thought-provoking questions with broad translational implications. We are left wondering how should the time of biospecimen collection influence our interpretation of patient data? Should treatment administration be optimized according to circadian timing? How does the circadian clock shape tumor metabolism, immune modulation, and therapeutic response? An exciting reminder that time itself may be a critical—and often overlooked—variable in cancer biology.

BALDWIN: Do you think NIH should fund less cancer research? RFK Jr: No, they should fund more, and one of the few agencies that got a raise in the budget proposal was NCI BALDWIN: And that increase is less than $1 million for an institute with a $7 billion budget. That's a .01% increase. It wouldn't even cover the cost of one additional grant.

Now is not the time to halt #CancerResearch & prevention progress. We call on Congress to prioritize the fight against cancer by pivoting to a short-term CR to fund the gov’t while drafting full appropriations bills that include robust investment in cancer fightcancer.org/releases/acs…

ACT NOW! Tomorrow, Congress will vote on a CR that will result in a 57% cut to CDMRP budget and will impact the Research Programs that support urologic topics such as prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, kidney health, and more. CDMRP provides funding that accelerates groundbreaking biomedical research by providing support to high-risk, high-gain projects that target critical gaps and improve patient care. CDMRP funding is vital for critical urologic research! #AUAadvocacy Click here to join our grassroots effort and write a letter to representatives 👉 bit.ly/4bH38dz

As a prostate cancer survivor and patient advocate, this cannot possibly be what the American people would want if they understood the importance of NIH , research. I served on 8 panels for the CDMRP, the funding for research must continue.
