These are the kinds of housing solutions we need! Not more taxes that drive up costs for everyone, builders & buyers. “Successful applicants would pay a fixed rent…with all of that money converted into equity for their down payment.” burnabynow.com/amp/real-esta…

My rough assessment of BC municipal election results: The cities being *most* ruined by street disorder and anarchy enthusiastically begged for more.

Mail Thief George Chahal has a friend in the BC NDP, who just stole a conservative letter to a voter and replaced it with her own. Outrageous low-trust behavior.

Big wins for the left and far-left in Vancouver last night. Sweep of city council and a new mayor who calls Portland his model. The status quo of the last few... decades is now further entrenched. A brief experiment trying something mildly different on crime and drugs is over.

Vancouver probably now has one of the most radical left wing city councils of any major city in North America If you want to know how a city turns out with a radical left wing city council, just look at Portland, Seattle, or San Francisco 😂 Downtown Vancouver is cooked 😂

Here’s the newly elected COPE party yelling about the “cruel austerity of capitalism” “We didn’t start this class war but we’re going to own it.” Sir, you’re a city councillor. Pave the roads, pick up the trash and maintain the community centers. It’s a sad day when city officials turn this into a platform to spew woke ideologies instead of focusing on delivering core services for the community.
Vancouver just elected COPE’s Solomon Yi-Kieran, who decries the “cruel austerity of capitalism” and yells “we didn’t start this class war but we’re going to own it.” Voters, is this what you signed up for?

The self-proclaimed communist just got the most votes of any Vancouver city councillor, and that just about sums up this election. Thanks for playing, comrades.

The left pulled mayoral candidates and that was a wise move. Allam, Bligh, Hardwick split up the rest.

The B.C. NDP government has committed to hand over approximately 400 parcels of public Crown land to First Nations, while promising just days before the snap election that it would change the law to limit compensation to forest companies affected by the losses. The revelation is contained inside briefing documents labelled “confidential” but obtained by Northern Beat. The briefing is dated Sept. 10, less than two weeks before Premier David Eby called a snap election. Anyone who wanted to see the material was forced by government to sign a non-disclosure agreement to remain quiet during the election period. “One mechanism used to advance reconciliation is through the return of Crown lands to First Nations under treaties and other negotiated agreements,” reads the document, titled “Forest Compensation Framework.” “Presently, there are approximately 400 parcels committed for transfer through Treaty and reconciliation agreements.” The proposed solution is to change the compensation rules to make it cheaper for government to remove the logging rights from forest companies on land earmarked for First Nations by, in some cases, not compensating the companies at all. The documents show the Eby cabinet approved the policy in July. Voters have not been told of the decision in the election campaign, nor was it included in Wednesday’s BC NDP forestry platform. Last election, the Eby government hid $100M reconciliation deal from voters Until now, the government has not revealed the total number of Crown land parcels it has privately agreed to give to First Nations communities. The NDP government has been heavily criticized in recent years for keeping the public in the dark over land transfer agreements, limiting public access to provincial parks in the name of Indigenous reconciliation and making secretive reconciliation agreements that impact local governments and businesses that are not revealed until so late in the process that the deal is already done.
New confidential briefing says the B.C. NDP government has committed to hand over approximately 400 parcels of public Crown land to First Nations. How is this not the biggest issue in the upcoming election? northernbeat.ca/opinion/rob-…

Most of the personal attack I’ve seen come from “compassionate” left wing folks. As soon as they are called out on something they go after you personally. Then the right sometimes hurls it back. But still the best discussion I’ve had are with folks that are opposite in voting intention this time around but will talk facts and concede when they are in the wrong. That’s normal.

Something deeply troubling I’ve noticed this election is how quickly political disagreement turns into personal attacks. If you oppose the NDP, you’re suddenly labeled a racist, climate denier, conspiracy theorist, residential school denier, or whatever other term is convenient. I’ve spoken privately with many people who are afraid to share their political views because the personal and professional risks are simply too high. Think about how dangerous that is for a democracy. When one side feels free to speak while the other fears being publicly vilified, we don’t get healthy debate. We get an increasingly one sided conversation. We’ve reached a point where having a different political opinion is treated as a reflection of someone’s character rather than simply a difference in perspective. You can disagree with someone without believing they’re a bad person. You can challenge someone’s ideas without attacking their character. And you can believe strongly in your own views while accepting that someone else might see things differently. A healthy democracy requires people to feel free to disagree. Not just those whose opinions are popular. We need more debate, more critical thinking, and more willingness to listen to opposing views. Not more labels, division, and attempts to silence each other.

This is shameful! Watch this Surrey South BC NDP canvasser take Conservative literature from someone’s door, only to replace it with her own. I was just sent this. This should be denounced, no matter which side it comes from.

Wilson-Raybould was appointed as AG of the Canadian government by the current Liberal party, and in 2019 she "forbade arguing extinguishment of Aboriginal title on private property" That is a very serious problem for BC.

Landowners in Richmond BC were blindsided by the Cowichan ruling. How could BC's top court strip private property protections? After slogging through 12 years of court submissions, testimony and rulings, the answer emerged, but it's not good news for British Columbians.
