This day in #SteelersHistory 2017 was a sad day for #SteelersNation and the #NFL when Dan Rooney passed away. Ambassador Rooney was always supportive of #SteelerNationUK and this is my favourite #Steelers photo taken when we met Croke Park 1997 #SNUProud
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1947 the #Steelers beat the Eagles 35-24 to move to 3-2. Five years after posting their first winning season they would improve to finish 8-4 coached by Dr. John "Jock" Sutherland and their fans would get to watch playoff football for the first time.
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1942 the #Steelers beat the Eagles 14-0 for a third straight win as reported the next day in the Pittsburgh Press. The confidence behind their team was building in Pittsburgh and #SteelersNation would be rewarded with their first winning season at 7-4.

#OTD in #SteelersHistory 2004 Ben Roethlisberger made the sports headlines but it was linebacker James Farrior who set a new #Steelers record with his three forced fumbles in a game as they beat the Cowboys 24-20 in Dallas. Farrior's record still stands today.
Today's #Steelers birthday boy faced the Buccaneers in 2001 so what was the result?

Birthday greetings to Kordell who #SteelerNationUK met in Croke Park 1997 the day before the #Steelers won the Waterford Crystal Bowl against the Bears. steelersuk.com/SteelerNation…
Happy Birthday to Former #Steelers QB Kordell Stewart
"It was all just football. I didn’t care about attention…I didn’t want it. I knew I’d get the opposite side of the good attention too at some point. I did appreciate it – but the heavy praise was just too much to grasp. At the level it was at, it was hard initially. I shied away from it, honestly. I understood it all later – at the time, I just wanted to beat the guy in front of me."

#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1983 the #Steelers thumped the Browns 44-17 on their way to a 10-6 season and their eighth division title in ten years. Cliff Stoudt was their quarterback. The Steelers also kept their not losing to the Browns in Three Rivers Stadium record intact at 14.
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1972 Franco Harris who wasn't listed as a starter scored the first of his 100 career touchdowns for the #Steelers which remains a franchise record. He also recorded the first of his 47 100-yard games which would only be surpassed by Jerome Bettis with 50.
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1945 the Pittsburgh Press reported the return of Jock Sutherland to Pittsburgh with rumours of him coaching the #Steelers and he did the following year. Other newspapers noted the return of players as the nation began to return to normality after the end of WW2.
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1974 our Rocky scored his first #NFL touchdown for the #Steelers when he opened the their scoring as they triumphed 34-24 over the #Chiefs in Arrowhead to continue their historic journey onto their first Super Bowl appearance.
I'll pay the postage if I win!
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1947 the #Steelers rolled over the Boston Yanks and the following day's sports headline proved prophetic when the franchise made their first playoff appearance and the story of that season can be found in Steve's book amazon.com/Starless-Pittsbur…
