I see broadbased bloggers declaring, “I have lost all respect for Sifuna because he met Rigathi Gachagua.” Since when did you support Sifuna? You support William Ruto, under whose administration young Kenyans were abducted, maimed and killed, yet you want us to believe that Sifuna meeting Gachagua is what offends your conscience? When our young people were being brutalized, Gachagua who was the Deputy President held a press conference in Mombasa and publicly condemned what was happening. You cannot conveniently erase that while defending the administration under which those atrocities occurred. I keep saying that the bell rang in 2024. That is where we drew the line. Wasn’t it Ruto who pushed the Finance Bill, while Gachagua opposed it? Who defended the brutality unleashed on our young people, and who spoke out against it? Also, on the issue of Baba, does Gachagua even come close to Ruto in the attacks and insults directed at Baba, even as late as 2023, beyond the issue of kuweka mitego State House? Spare us the selective outrage. You cannot support Ruto, who continues to defy our Constitution, the very thing Baba stood for, you cannot continue to support Ruto, whose administration has overseen the killing, maiming and abduction of Kenyans, while acting as though meeting Gachagua is an unforgivable offence.

I REGRET CONVERTING TO ISLAM. I never imagined that a faith I chose to embrace would leave me questioning so much about religion, humanity and the value of human life. Every day, I see reports of things done by people claiming to act in the name of Islam, and honestly, some of what I see scares me. The recent reports about the killing of Bangladeshi nationals have deepened my disappointment. I look at the cruelty, the violence and the apparent willingness of some people to justify brutality through religion, and I ask myself: what exactly did I sign up for? Saudi Arabia may be the spiritual centre of Islam, but no country, religious authority or cleric has the monopoly on morality. I regret following Islam, and I am no longer willing to silence my conscience to defend a religious identity. I am an African, a human being, and I refuse to surrender my humanity to any ideology. My conscience comes before my religious identity. Humanity comes before dogma. And no religion deserves unquestioning loyalty at the expense of human life. I will condemn cruelty wherever it occurs, regardless of the religion, nationality or ethnicity of those responsible. My problem is with brutality and extremism not with every Muslim, many of whom reject violence and live peacefully with others.

Sifuna has lost the support of Luos. Can you imagine Sifuna is currently at Wamunyoro negotiating with Gachagua, a man who used to report to his office at 4AM to plan brutality against Azimio supporters. A man who humiliated Baba. Anyone who associates with Gachagua is our enemy
