With our new America First Global Health Strategy, the United States will save millions of lives and help countries develop resilient and durable health systems that make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
Today, the State Department is launching the America First Global Health Strategy. The global health programs of the past became inefficient and wasteful and created a culture of dependency among recipient countries. Going forward, our programs will be focused on containing infectious disease outbreaks before they reach our country, strengthening bilateral relationships that keep Americans safe, and promoting American health innovation around the world. semafor.com/article/09/18/20…

We welcome this new strategic partnership approach of the United States of America - state.gov/america-first-glob… Clearly aligned with our national sovereign interest to build robust and sustainable primary healthcare platform in Nigeria, it is the type of partnership we seek from the United States and other development partners, as we take proactive steps to prevent illnesses, improve population health outcomes, control infectious diseases (HIV, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Pneumonia etc.), expand health insurance, and establish well functioning healthcare markets, as well articulated in the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative #NHSRII of H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR @officialABAT. Nigeria cherishes win-win partnerships with other countries and we especially thank the American people and its Government, led President Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump, for their stalwart support over the past two decades, and we look forward to engaging further on this comprehensive new strategy extended by the United States of America @StateDeptGHSD. This will accelerate the paths of countries to exit dependency over time.

Today @SecRubio took steps to revoke visas and impose visa restrictions on Brazilian officials and former PAHO officials involved in the Cuban regime’s labor export scheme in support of Brazil’s Mais Médicos program. The action of these officials severely damaged the reputation of PAHO and detracts from the important work it does. We must do better.
