Bye, brutalism: @wmata painted a bunch of concrete at the federal center SW station.

This proposed plan is absolutely unacceptable.
Here’s what the plan actually does: 36 holes of public golf cut to 18. No more mini golf. No more park. More running / cycling road. No more playground. No more introductory course. Nobody has said a word about the Cherry blossoms.
Who is this actually for? Not the kid learning to golf. Not the family in a walk. Not the birders.
This was never about the public. It’s for the elitists who want a private showcase, and one man’s ego.
People have asked why I care so much about getting scofflaw vehicles off the road: today one rear-ended me. It had over $6k in unpaid tickets, no insurance, and registration that expired over 2 years ago.
We all pay for DC's lack of traffic enforcement: some of us just in time, money, and frustration, and others with our bodies and lives.
When @RobertWhite_DC @BrianneKNadeau @charlesallen and others say that traffic enforcement is regressive, they forget that low-income people are most physically and financially at risk when they are hit by bad drivers.
Error in @HillRagDC article about candidates: confuses the Rhonda Hamilton running for mayor (who lives in NE) with the ANC Commissioner in SW by the same name. @ekogorek
The bill allows a "promoter or organizer of a District-licensed special event" to hire off-duty DPW staff for parking enforcement. If I organize a Follow Traffic Laws event and pay a reimbursable detail, will they only ticket or can they boot and tow too?
D.C. is empowering colleges and business districts to write parking tickets.
Here comes a big fight over the cost of D.C. traffic tickets, at a time when Metro gets more expensive, groceries go up and inflation appears just about everywhere. axios.com/local/washington-d…
Why is the captioning on @nbcsnl so bad on the Peacock replay? It's not live then; it shouldn't be hard to get it right!

One extra cruel twist here: DHS froze green applications for 75 countries. Refugees and others who should have green cards by now but don't are among those who are losing eligibility for Medicaid (and, in Jan., marketplace).

Within blocks of home I just found 7 tow-eligible vehicles that collectively owe over $20k. If DC had a 311 code to report these, plus weekend towing, adequate tow lots, and tow trucks with plate readers, we'd be closer to vision zero and it would free up spots for other cars!
I reported the one that was too close to a hydrant and @DCDPW actually came out! And...just gave it another ticket instead of towing to improve fire safety. This on the 300 block of G SW, same block with a fatal apartment fire a few years ago. @dcfireems @charlesallen

The vehicle associated with the fatal crash that resulted after the passenger turned driver fled from Charles County MD police has $10,502 in DC tickets (50 in total) on it with over $4000 of them in the past 6 months including one the day before the incident. @maustermuhle
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has released footage of a traffic stop that ended with a fatal crash on Crain Highway in Prince George’s County 🚨
On the morning of August 25th, Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a silver Toyota near Leonardtown Road and Lakewood Drive in Waldorf after a request from the Arlington County Police Department. One of the car’s occupants had more than twenty active warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including Arlington, Fairfax, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Howard, Anne Arundel, and Frederick counties. Several of the warrants were for felony offenses.
Three people were in the car at the time. The woman sought on the warrants was seated in the front passenger seat.
As officers approached the vehicle, the woman locked the passenger door, directed the driver to get out and moved into the driver’s seat. She then pushed an officer out of the doorway, dislodging his body-worn camera, before driving away with a passenger still in the back seat.
Deputies initially pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it near Crain Highway and Substation Road amid heavy traffic. Radio communications included in the released footage show an officer discussing discontinuing the search if no other units were available ahead.
CCSO deputies later saw the car traveling in the wrong direction on Crain Highway, prompting a supervisor to terminate the pursuit.
Seconds later, deputies encountered the vehicle after it crashed into two vans in the southbound lanes of Crain Highway near McKendree Road. Sheriff’s deputies stopped to provide aid to those involved.
The released camera footage shows the suspect’s car crossing the highway median from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes. The agency said the car was behind the officers before entering oncoming traffic and striking the two vans.
The driver of the suspect vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The back-seat passenger, identified as 33-year-old Alexis Monique Cummings of Temple Hills, Maryland. was flown to a trauma center and later died. The occupants of the two vans suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The incident remains under investigation by the Maryland Office of Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division.

EXERCISE: This morning, September 20, 2026, we will have a training exercise on Capitol Grounds, near the Senate parks.
Please do not be alarmed if you see a lot of police officers, emergency vehicles, & hear a loud boom/simulated shots for training purposes.

A @DCDPW ticketer just called me and he's frustrated too. He calls these cars and others with >$10k in unpaid tickets in, nothing happens, and there isn't much towing because Blue Plains is full. @dc_oca, @charlesallen, @janeese4dc, @dcattorneygen will you fix this? Do you care?
