🚨New paper alert 🚨
The first paper from my dissertation is out! We developed an end-to-end, depth resolved food web model that allows us to track vertical energy flows throughout the water column and within specific depth zones.

My doctoral defense was today, and…
I passed!
Thank you to everyone who came in-person and virtually! I’ve had so much support throughout this entire process and am so grateful for everyone who has helped me along in this journey.

Very excited to announce that I will be defending my dissertation on Monday, June 26! If you’d like the details to attend, please DM me!
I’m also happy to announce that I will be joining the @BRobertsLab as a postdoc this Fall!
Lots of big things happening!
The dissertation defense disaster dreams have started--so that's fun 🫠 Last night's was that my laptop updated to a completely different OS and I couldn't find the programs I needed to do my presentation. But joke's on my subconscious 'cuz my laptop is too old for updates now🥴
Found this comment while revisiting some old code. Is it a sign that past me thought ahead to prevent future me from making the same mistake or a sign of caution? 🤔 I guess time will tell 🤷🏼♀️

New @fcelter paper led by @StacyCalGro looking at long term change of food webs in FL Bay. We found food webs are getting browner. @FosterEmelie @jnelsonPhD rdcu.be/c6lpJ
🚨New paper! We used trophic niche metrics to compare stable isotope data from two seagrass die-offs in Florida Bay to see if and how the food web may have changed between time points. (Spoiler alert: it did!) bit.ly/3xUUrJt @jnelsonPhD @FosterEmelie @wryanjames

Rep. Jordan, you do realize that plankton are vital to oxygen in our oceans? And that we study plankton to make sure we understand perhaps the most important ecosystem on the planet for thousands of species (including us)? You understand that, right?

With gratitude and grace for everyone who wants to get involved and help people seeking abortions: PLEASE stop offering your home or spare room to strangers on the internet. There are lots of reasons not to AND lots of things you can do instead. 🧵
Good luck @JakeSnyder_PSU !! I’m so excited for you to get to share your hard work!

Sometimes, when things (like thunder) get scary, you just need a fort under Mom’s desk. Lucy, the black lab, is the one afraid of thunder. Her sister, Rosie, has FOMO and the need to snuggle with somebody when she sleeps.
