I’m delighted to be launching Renew NI.
Our team believe there is a stronger, more confident case to be made for Northern Ireland. We believe this place has enormous potential. Our aim is to contribute ideas, evidence and practical solutions to the challenges we face.

Northern Ireland today is a place transformed. In a generation, we have come from conflict to build a peaceful, democratic society. Across our communities, people live, work and build their lives together, within a settlement that respects difference. There is a shared sense of belonging and a quiet pride in what we call home.
Too often, that story is overlooked. The conversation drifts towards division. Confidence has been shaken by instability, pressure on public services and uncertainty about what lies ahead. We focus too much on competing futures, instead of improving the present we already share.
But Northern Ireland is changing. More people are looking beyond old divisions. The foundations are already in place. A growing economy. Ambitious and talented young people, with the ability to deliver. This is our moment to move forward with confidence.
To realise that opportunity, a stronger case for Northern Ireland must be made. Renew NI exists to lead that work. Bringing together evidence, ideas and practical solutions. Building a clear, positive vision that reflects our strengths and meets our challenges head on.
A future where more people feel proud, not just of what we have overcome, but of what we are building together. A Northern Ireland that delivers. Confident in ourselves. Clear in our direction. We can build a Northern Ireland people don’t just live in, but believe in.

BREAKING: huge development ref Drumcree.
BBC Nolan confirming from Gavin Robinson MP that the mob on the Garvaghy Road were armed & prepared to shoot Orangemen & use petrol bombs against the parade.
This is the mob led by SF, and supported by the SDLP and the so called ‘concerned Protestants’ used as useful idiots.
The Executive simply cannot continue. SF were at the head of an armed mob, which included terrorists.
So much for the ‘poor oppressed Rosa Parks’ on the Garvaghy Road. A terrorist criminal mob.
Humiliation for all those who jumped on the mob’s bandwagon!

NEW: High Court will sit at 12:30 to consider whether to hear full argument today in Judicial Review against SoS order to reward lawbreaking.
Those of us fighting the legal battle have done more than political unionism this far to fight back.
I’ve spent years building trust in policing & justice in my community. It has been destroyed by the Chief Con & SoS bowing down to lawbreakers and threats. How can I ask our people to respect the law and have faith in institutions when this two tier system fails us at every turn? – at Belfast, Northern Ireland

An imagined interview:
“Gavin, how do you view the situation?”
“Bad people were blocking the roads.”
“What are you going to do about it?”
“Complain to the police.”
“Would that be the same police who wouldn’t enforce a lawful decision because of those bad people?”
“Yes.”
“And you trust them to sort it out?”
“Oh yes. I’m unreservedly behind the police.”
“But your MP called for the Chief Constable to go.”
“Well, well, well. It’s a bit early for that.”
“What about taking action yourself?”
“Oh, we’ll do something.”
“What?”
“We’re thinking about what to do.”
“Are you thinking about bringing Stormont down?”
“No, no, no. Stormont has to stay.”
“Why?”
“There’s a lot of work to be done. We’ve got to deliver for the people, like we’ve been doing all along.”
“What have you been delivering?”
“Support for bands, for example.”
“So they can play at the Fleadh, but they can’t walk down the road?”

Two weeks of hate. Pure unadulterated hate. Some of the most vile, sectarian and divisive abuse attacking unionist culture and identity. There has been no respect. No inclusion. No equality. 35 elderly Orangemen wanting to walk their historic traditional route for a church parade apparently threatened the peace process? No Going Back? Republicanism hasn't moved on in 28 years.

Despite the difficult start in life, I always obeyed the law and respected authority.
Confidence in the rule of law has been decimated with the SOS and CC capitulating to extremism and Republican aggression.
Mob rule wins again.

Why did the Chief Constable not facilitate the lawful procession? In his own words: “Such an operation would have had not only catastrophic long term consequences for trust and confidence in policing, but for the Northern Ireland Executive and the peace process.”

So the Secretary of State has given in to the threat of violence and banned the Garvaghy Road march. A return to zero-sum politics, a result guaranteed to undermine the rule of law and damage community relations.

The Chief Con might as well hand every PSNI station key to Sinn Fein.
Capitulating in the face of republican threats is a disgrace and a betrayal of the rule of law.
Confidence in policing has been shattered.

The message going out tonight to everyone in our society is that “mob rule” wins. Whatever your perspective of Drumcree, the forces of law and order have capitulated to the threat of republican violence. The PSNI have abdicated their legal duties. The CC’s decision to surrender will have profound consequences for PSNI-community relations and engagement.

It’s very hard to see how any unionist or loyalist could credibility continue with any form of engagement with such a politically compromised PSNI.
After the Storey funeral, DCC Singleton led much community engagement work to try and rebuild confidence. All that is now gone, buried under the weakness and politicking of Jon Boucher.

The “peaceful protest” on Garvaghy Road was an illegal road block intent on denying the human rights of their fellow citizens. It was sinister, intimidating, and far from peaceful. Two cars were positioned in the middle of the road. Many people covered their faces. According to the organiser, petrol bombs were made in preparation of a showdown. Threats were also made by politicians about a “day of reckoning.”
