So many questions about the mystery den in our classroom! We decided to leave some notes for the mystery owner @LiteracyCounts1 @StFinbarsSch

Year 1 have been thinking about how we can keep our mind healthy and to recognise our big feelings. We have learnt some different tools to help with this including breath work, calm music, creativity, movement and singing #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek

Year one loved our zoom story time. Our favourite part was making our own characters with the draw along! #LiverpoolReadingFestival @ReadingatLLP @StFinbarsSch

We had so much fun on @NSPCC number. We made crunchy cornflake cakes using measures and explored different maths challenges throughout the day! #NSPCCnumberday @StFinbarsSch

KS1 had a great session today, learning all about Liverpool! We had a focus on culture and art, looking at sculptures, landmarks and even singing along to The Beatles. @StFinbars_Year2 @StFinbarsSch

We loved our walk of the local area. The children were excellent at spotting different aspects of the local environment, physical and human features. We had a great day! @JanJconley @StFinbarsSch

This week, Year 1 have been using the prefix un- to change the meaning of words. This has been the focus for our sentence accuracy, the children have done a great job! #stfinbarsenglish @LiteracyCounts1 @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Year 1 have had a problem with magic spiders. We wrote a class set of instructions - How to Catch a Spider. Last night we set a trap, it didn’t work! Today will write our own instructions to try catch the pesky spiders! #stfinbarsenglish @LiteracyCounts1 @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Year 1 have been learning about number fact families. We have used lots of different ways to help us understand quantity and number bonds, working together as a class. #stfinbarsmaths @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

This week, we have enjoyed a range of poems, some silly, some active and some that made us think. We read the poem At My House and thought of all the things that we love about our homes, writing up our own. #NationalPoetryDay2023 @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Year 1 have been introduced to the part - whole model today. We have had fun exploring and partitioning numbers #stfinbarsmaths @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Lego club had fun today trying to create our names using blocks. The children researched some of the trickier letters and worked together to do as many as they could. #AfterSchoolClub @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Today we have had a fun filled visit from @tonypeek, he helped Year 1 to create our own alliteration poems. We then made illustrations to match our silly sentences. @ReadingatLLP @llpartnership @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley #StFinbarsWriters #StFinbarsReaders

What a great visit to Chester Zoo Year 1 had. The children loved their first school trip. We learnt so much about how we can help our native animals and insects and saw lots of different wildlife. @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley

Great day today for Battle of the Planets. Year 1 took part in different races, a team quiz and some creative challenges. #StfinbarsPE @JanJconley @StFinbarsSch

In science are learning about parts of a tree. The children wanted to explore their knowledge and identify parts of the trees around our school. #stfinbarsscientists @JanJconley @StFinbarsSch

We have been counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Today we used our skills to tally how many cars drove past our school, how many do you think we saw in 5 minutes? #stfinbarsmathematicians @StFinbarsSch @JanJconley
