Across our schools, students continue to learn about Truth and Reconciliation and reflect on what it means for all of us. At our 'Fall into the Outdoors' conference, the land was our classroom. 🌿 OCSB Educators and Staff gathered outdoors for a day of learning, reflection and connection, discovering new teachings, perspectives and ways of learning that they can carry back into their classrooms and share with students across our Board. Because when Educators continue to learn, that learning finds its way to our students. 💚 With gratitude for the Algonquin Anishinaabe Peoples, the original stewards of the lands and waters where we live, learn and gather, today’s OCSB Outdoor Learning Conference invited us to think more deeply about our relationship with the natural world, with one another and with the generations who will follow us. There is something sacred about learning this way. 🍂 Feet on the earth. Wind through the trees. Stories shared in a circle. Time to listen before speaking. Time to notice what has always been around us. As a Catholic community, we are called to care for Creation. Indigenous ways of knowing remind us of the importance of relationship, respect, gratitude and responsibility. And perhaps one of the most beautiful things we can offer our students is the opportunity to discover that learning doesn't only happen within four classroom walls. The land has something to teach us. 🌎💚 May we continue to listen. May we continue to learn.
