TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO THREE ARRESTS INCLUDING AN IMPAIRED DRIVER
๐ 2026-1483567
On October 7, 2026, at approximately 8:48 PM, a member of Summerside Police Services on general patrol in the St. Eleanorโs area observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light at the intersection of North Drive and Route 2.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and during interactions with the driver, a 41-year-old man, the officer observed several signs of impairment. The driver failed standard field sobriety testing at the roadside and was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs. He later failed an examination by a drug recognition expert, and samples of the driverโs blood were obtained for analysis.
Two passengers in the vehicle, a 47-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were found to be on court ordered no contact conditions. Both were arrested at the scene.
During a search of the vehicle, police seized a quantity of illegal tobacco products.
The driver of the vehicle was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date and is expected to be facing impaired driving related charges as well as charges under the Excise Act for possessing the illegal tobacco.
The two passengers in the vehicle were also released on conditions to attend court at a later date to answer to breach of conditions charges.
Summerside Police Services would like to remind the public that if anyone suspects they are witnessing an impaired driving related incident to call 911 or their nearest police agency.

SUMMERSIDE POLICE SERVICES INVESTIGATING INDECENT ACTS
๐ 2025-1818152, 2026-1212475
Summerside Police Services are investigating two separate incidents of indecent acts.
On August 20, 2026, police received a report that a 17-year-old female was walking through the County Fair Mall parking lot just before 8:00 AM the same day, when a male parked in a vehicle called her over to his vehicle and asked for directions. When the victim approached the manโs car, he had his genitals exposed and asked the victim to perform a sexual act. The victim refused, left the area and reported the incident to police.
Details of this investigation are similar to an incident that had been reported on December 11, 2025.
During that incident, a female victim had parked her car in the Walmart parking lot when a vehicle parked next to her. The man driving the vehicle spoke to the victim from inside his vehicle and when the victim turned her attention toward the man, his genitals were exposed and he was masturbating.
As the investigations progressed, police were able to identify a suspect from the December 2025 incident and arrested a 32-year-old Summerside area man who will appear in court at a later date to answer to one count of committing an indecent act. The August 2026 incident remains under investigation.
Police are asking anyone with any information in relation to these incidents, or who may have experienced a similar incident, to contact Summerside Police Services at 902-432-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

๐ฃ SCAM ALERT - IMPERSONATING POLICE AND CANADA POST
๐ 2026-1334070, 2026-1334257, 2026-1334749
Today, Summerside Police Services received several complaints regarding person(s) calling residents while falsely claiming to be representatives of Canada Post's Fraud Department and law enforcement agencies, including Summerside Police Services and the RCMP.
In some of these instances, scammers use what appear to be legitimate service numbers and advise victims that they have been victims of criminal activity. The callers attempt to obtain personal information including names, addresses, and banking details.
Summerside Police Services wish to advise the public that neither Canada Post nor police agencies will contact individuals by phone to request banking information, instruct them to withdraw money from their accounts, purchase gift cards or cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.
Residents should not provide personal or financial information over the phone to unsolicited callers. If you receive such a call, hang up and contact the organization directly using a verified phone number, or visit the agency in person.
If you believe you are a victim of fraud, report the incident to your financial institution and your local police service as soon as possible.
