‘Soup’ was a slang term for drugs that were injected into a horse to make it run faster. A racehorse that was on PEDs was said to be ‘souped up.’ We now use the term to refer to anything that is enhanced.

One of the big crimes of doping (known doped times, suspected doped times or pan y agua) is that we'll likely never know the real limits of natural human potential. What would the record books look like? Who is the fastest man or woman over 100m?

Please tell us the cutoffs for times you know are clean . Thank you in advance 🤔

I've just ordered myself a copy of @A_Jones_Reports new(ish) book and I have to say it looks very promising. If anyone has already read it, let me know what you though.

💉💉💉💉At least be less obvious @ukantidoping this is the same stunt you pulled in Moscow. When the best advice you gave was - Make sure the person has an illness that they're taking the medication for. Shameless bunch of cheats and murderers.

A reminder that people will cheat at absolutely anything. There is no prize for the winner, only a trophy. So imagine what people will do for money (and how that escalates when the money does.)

A potted histoy of doping in football:
Replying to @SportCampaign
We often hear there can't be doping in football 'because it's a skill game' but being able to perform as skillfully in the 80th minute as in the 5th is a huge advantage as is being able to run as fast in the second half as in the first. Football has a long history of doping.

And what do young players do to try and bridge the gap? In the UK, drug testing in football is weighted heavily towards the youth game.
Less than 1% of academy players ever play a single minute of first-team football. So, what happens to the 99% who don’t ‘make it’?

A nice snapshot of the potential benefits of doping in football. First, fewer injuries and quicker recovery has a big monetary value (and teams can be at full strength more) and secondly, being able to keep up with fresh legs and still perform skillfully and accurately late on:

With recent doping cases in football involving Pogba (DHEA), Mudryk (Meldonium) and Vuskovic (EPO), I thought I'd draw up a thread of articles on doping in football. Suggestions welcome. "Pep Guardiola's doping case revisited" 1/n substack-proxy.glitch.me/art…

In 2003 he was banned for two years after testing positive for THG. If a 25 year-old Dwain needed drugs how is a man 15-18 years past his natural athletic peak going to compete?
“I look at what I did when I ran those times in the past and I wonder what steps I can make to get back to that point. Whether I can still run those times or not, or even get close, I’m not sure. But that’s my pursuit of happiness at the minute.” Massive elephant in the room here ...
