The union posters here at the @ReutherLibrary are an amazing resource, and I love that the @UAW is letting the world know about them.
Also, did their video team add a Wilhelm scream to the "Fight Automation Fallout" poster?!? Proof they are the best in the biz.

There is *nothing* you care about that survives a 6-3 Republican court for a generation. Nothing.
I don’t know how many times the Court has to prove that to people before liberals unify and act.

Surely it cannot be a coincidence that since 2014 so much of the most interesting writing and criticism is being produced by PhDs who are pointedly not writing to achieve tenure because they had to or chose to create an intellectual life outside the academy?

Really excellent reporting from @IowaCapDispatch on money and power surrounding Iowa nursing homes.
The editors note at the top made me choke.
Iowa Health PAC, a nursing home industry organization, is one of the state’s biggest contributors to political campaigns, spending a total of $1,493,612 on campaign donations and related expenses since 2016, Clark Kauffman reports. iowacapitaldispatch.com/2023… via @IowaCapDispatch

I’m really disappointed. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is exactly the kind of lawless employer that @propublica should be investigating, not partnering with. Their journalists have been on strike for a year, and this is scabbing.

Once again, I'll say I did not expect to have to become an anti-#ChildLabor labor activist. Did you know: federal child labor violations are up 88% since 2019; PA has seen a 276% increase in cases from 2022-2023; in NY child labor cases have more than tripled since 2019? Awful.

WVU math faced a tough day yesterday as we learned of 16 people being cut as part of "academic transformation". Out of these, 10 faculty are "volunteered" to leave, and 6 were riffed (2 Tenure Track, 1 Teaching Asst. Professor, 3 Instructors). We don't know if there will be more cuts. I didn't receive an email - so I guess I'm not riffed. Yet, my feelings are far from cheerful. It was a sleepless night, contemplating the unfortunate loss. One of the tenure track faculty who will be riffed was in their fifth year - just like me - with hopes of going to tenure next year. I had the privilege of being part of the hiring process of some of the newer faculty members who volunteered to leave WVU. We dedicated days and hours reviewing all the applications. We are saying goodbye to exceptional professors, great mathematicians, and dear friends. This is just the beginning, and sadness runs deep.💔 #WVUMath #HeartfeltLoss @wvumath
