🌊 From space, the boundary between land and water can take some pretty incredible shapes. In the Netherlands, water, islands and land intertwine until it becomes difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Netherlands and the ocean, both blooming.
Zoom in to see the tulips' colours on the land, and the phytoplankton swirl of blue & green in the sea.
The tulips adorn vases around the world, and the phytoplankton (algae & bacteria) convert sunlight and CO2 into organic matter which sustains nearly all marine life.
Life is beautiful.

I'm thrilled to share this unique collaboration with Artemis Il astronaut @astro_reid.
Artemis II was a unique opportunity to get high-quality imagery of the moon, and Reid was gracious enough to capture some special image sets for me during the lunar flyby.

'@Astro_Christina can be heard clicking away with the Nikon, capturing the breathtaking Earthset photographs already shared. @AstroVicGlover and @Astro_Jeremy are viewing through another window. Such a privelege for the crew to make this incredible...more

Recently I tried to acquire an Apollo star chart and discovered that those charts contain three star names derived from the Apollo 1 astronauts, who tragically died OTD in 1967. Edward White II (Donces), Gus Ivan Grissom (Navi) and Roger Chaffee (Regor). The origin is a practical joke by Grissom.

Every journey, even one of 685,000 miles, starts with a single step.
Artemis II is rolling out to the pad.
It's happening! 🚀

Christmas eve 1968, the Apollo 8 crew watches the Earthrise from the Apollo CM. First human beings to witness this spectacular view. They also read the famous first words from Genesis 1.

I wish everyone a peacefull holiday season!

Last night was EPIC!
A 6 hour night with Apollo 16 moonwalker Charlie Duke in Germany, with only 25 guests! It was fantastic to meet him and his wife and talk to them. He spoke about several artifacts like original moon boots, a bubble helmet, gloves etc. I gave him a 3D printed replica of his lunar scoop and he signed another one for me. Great meeting all the other Apollo enthusiasts!

I just had to try @grok Imagine on some iconic NASA Apollo images. This is the animated version of the beautiful image of Apollo 17 commander Gene Cernan, after completing the last lunar EVA in December 1972. Amazing.

Fascinating vintage photos of the Apollo Command Module interior during development and testing in 1967. Many of these photos are for sale on eBay right now (not from me). This one I like the most. 1/3

More people need to see images like this and trade some of the noise that divides us for the signal that lives in all of us--an innate curiosity about what is out there, what we can achieve in service of our shared humanity, and what we might learn that could change everything.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong's famous words when he stepped on the lunar surface 56 years ago, reflected in the gold visor of his helmet. (I mirrored the image to make the text readable.)
