Congratulations to my dear colleague @SousaforRep on receiving La Promesa award! A well deserved honor – at Salem, MA
Each year at the #StateOfLatinoEdMA we honor a rising Latino legislator who upholds the promise of educational equity by advocating for Latino students, families, and educators.
This year we were proud to recognize @SousaforRep as the recipient of "La Promesa" Award.

It's disheartening to see talented Latino teachers facing such challenges. We need to create an inclusive and supportive environment to retain teachers of color and ensure a diverse and equitable education system.

Thank you @MABLLC for joining us for dinner! A great opportunity for MA's legislators of color to connect and deepen our partnerships.

.@SousaforRep reminds us that half of Latino teachers in Massachusetts leave the profession within 4 years of teaching because they face issues of exclusion, being overlooked for promotions and burnout. It is critical to prioritize the retention of teachers of color.
