My child had RSV at 10 weeks & again at 22 months. Both times resulted in multiple ER visits + hospital stay. Absolutely ZERO advantage for him to have had RSV at a young age, only risks (both acute & longer term). Anyone suggesting willful illness in children has lost their way.

@AlexMunter tells @NightShiftMD: “It’s just awful because too many kids already wait too long for planned surgery or a planned procedure. And now we’re having to cancel those.”

Across generations, Canadians have dedicated their lives to preserve peace. To honour those who have served and continue to serve, we pause for 2 minutes of silence. Make November 11 the most unforgettable day of the year. #CanadaRemembers

I spoke with Premier @FordNation today. I emphasized the importance of standing up for Canadians’ rights and freedoms, including workers’ rights – and I reiterated that the preemptive use of the notwithstanding clause is wrong and inappropriate.

Palliative care is so special….in these next decades of healthcare, should we actually begin to think about it being un-specialized?🤔
Palliative care needs to be peppered into all care!

Trying to put into words the pain of being told by HCWs that I “have” to hold my deaf non speaking child down for procedures, watching them use physical restraints, his sobbing…this is a haunting and incredibly important issue #PTSD #MedicalMoms

Countless visits to the ER over 21 years with a medically fragile diagnosed child. Sent home on numerous occasions. Also had them say “ so what do you want to do ? What do you suggest? We are the experts with our kids , but also puts huge responsibility with medical decisions.

I'm so grateful for voices being heard! Parents of kids w/#mentalhealth needs are also at risk for PTSD. The pediatric side of #healthcare puts a lot of pressure on the parent/caregiver as the care "partner". Our PTSD often goes undiagnosed & untreated.

#Caregivers & #patients are rarely at decision making tables. We are often limited to giving "advice." There are notable but few exceptions. Little will change until we lead with you. Politicians & system leaders can't fix the issues in #HealthSystem without co-designing with us

A new Ontario law gives hospitals the power to label anyone not requiring acute care as ALC, triggering an involuntary move to long-term care, their home, a shelter, etc. Experts say this puts seniors/people with mental health disorders/others at risk. theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

Everyone has a role to play in better supporting unpaid family caregivers.
We can and must do better.

We need transformative codesign of #HealthSystem with #caregivers, #patients & front line #HCWs. Government relies on caregivers to care for ppl with increasingly complex needs. Equip us. Enable us. Support us. Listen to us. Provide us access to resources we need to do this work.
