Super bullish about ParadeDB after chatting with @philippemnoel . Basically a search-focused version of Postgres. Sparked by a conversation started by @arvidkahl about having a full-text index on ~500GB of data in MySQL and the difficulties there. ParadeDB has an extension that brings (1) more features and (2) a faster engine to search in Postgres. One of my favorite things from Philippe -- they often recommend setting up a different Postgres instance running ParadeDB that's replicating from your primary OLTP instance. Super easy pipeline story without bogging down your primary instance with search queries. Check it out
We're back with another episode of Software Huddle. Postgres for Search + Analytics with Philippe Noël 🚀 As Postgres continues to rise in popularity, the "Just Use Postgres'' movement is getting stronger and stronger. Yet there are still things that standard Postgres doesn't do well, and advanced search and analytics functionality is near the top of the list. @paradedb is Postgres for search and analytics. And this is a conversation with Philippe Noël who is one of the founders of ParadeDB. I recently watched a talk on @SoftwareHuddle's YouTube channel, where @samlambert explains Vitess architecture overview and how it is used at PlanetScale. Highly recommended for an overview of Vitess and the pricing models used in DBaaS. youtube.com/watch?v=9q3_QT2g…
