Lincoln was a third party candidate who emerged bc neither major party would take up abolitionism. If she had her way, my people would still be enslaved, & she wouldn't be in this country bc there would've been no Black civil rights struggle to overturn racist immigration policy.

I cried at the top of Mt. Kenya, so it's mine now, I guess.
I was on a flight to Israel and struck up a conversation with the lady beside me. She was Jewish; her family were Holocaust survivors. As we saw the coastline of Israel from the window, she burst into tears. It was her first time visiting. Tell me again how Jews have no connection to the land of Israel.

X has suspended the account of academic and researcher @MujammaHaraket whose writings and translation projects about Palestine are essential historical works that fall clearly within the public interest. This ban should be reversed immediately.

Mamdani broke norms to keep her on in the first place, but the establishment left won’t let facts get between their tongues and their emotional support politician’s rear.

The FAA mandates an engineering target of one plane crash per billion flights. In real life, crashes occur roughly once every five million flights: Higher by a factor of 200. So when engineers tell us AI has a 10% chance of killing everyone, that means the real probability is
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
FAA’s 10⁻⁹ figure is per flight-hour, not per flight, and applies separately to each catastrophic failure condition—not to crashes overall. So the “factor of 200” is not correct.

I am morally against capital punishment. National Society of Scientists estimates that 4.1% of people executed in the US were actually innocent. Those who support capital punishment must be ok with their mom, dad, brother, sister, etc. being executed knowing they were innocent.
“We need to do in the West Bank what we did in Gaza.”
Because their goal is to erase Palestine and all Palestinians. They don’t hide it.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich:
We need to go to war in the West Bank. We need to do in the West Bank what we did in Gaza.
I want to kill all the terrorists. I want to collect all the weapons.

If you were Israeli leaders, and believed you were being globally accused of crimes you didn't commit in Gaza, what's the first thing you'd do?
Urge the international media to go to Gaza and report the truth.
But if you know the accusations are true, you'd ban international media from reporting freely. That's what Israel is doing even a year after a "cease-fire," and the reason could not be more obvious.

ppl say I never change my arguments, but it used be that I could say "look it's not like chatgpt is gonna wake up and try to kill you tomorrow" and now I have to say "well the *public* version of chatgpt isn't gonna try to kill you tomorrow". so.

Mamdani’s biggest mistake was not replacing Jessica Tisch when he took office. This is never going to work.
Actresses Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder were detained by police outside of the United Nations on Thursday for protesting outside of a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Among chants of "Stop arming Israel! Let Gaza live!," Sarandon and Einbinder were among dozens detained by police. Inside the building, dozens more UN delegates walked out of Netanyahu's speech.

Breaking: According to a military memo reviewed by CBS News, Trump and the United States are making plans to invade Cuba.
Now here is what corporate media won’t report: Like all US wars the mission is not “freedom or democracy”, but to loot and privatize Cuba’s industries and resources in order to enrich the US billionaire class.
If the US wanted to help Cuba it would lift the decades long trade embargo, not invade and loot it.

You're such cheap, deceitful partisan hacks. Tucker not only vopposed US military action in Venezuela and denounced it from the start, but did far more to try to stop it than any of the Dem Party AIPAC loyalists and warmongers you revere and campaign for. #AIPACHakeemForSpeaker

Most people only read the headlines these days so it’s wild work to intentionally use “women” or “person” when it should be “minor” or “child.”
The entire media apparatus seems hell-bent on normalizing pedophilia.
Anyways, future congressman right here

We don't know how AI systems work.
We can't predict how they might behave.
We can't stop them from misbehaving.
We can't ensure we stay in control if they do misbehave.
The fields of research addressing these 4 issues are called interpretability, testing, alignment, and control.
There are foundational research questions that remain unresolved in these fields, despite many years of effort.
We cannot rely on solving these questions on a deadline.
