2026 will be remembered as a year when a lot of bad things happened. Trump turning on Ukraine will go down in history as one of the worst πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦
BREAKING: Billionaire Sir Richard Branson unleashes a SCORCHING attack on Trump and his disgusting cozying up to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that gets under Trump's skin... "I thought I’d never have to say this in my lifetime, but this is 2026, and sadly nothing is what it used to be," Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, wrote on LinkedIn. "The Trump administration has become an appeaser to autocrats and dictators, putting their personal whims before the best interests of the American people and those of the free world. What is it about Putin that President Trump fawns over?" "How will America’s allies ever be able to trust this administration again when they are now turning against them at a time of war and suffering?" he asked. Trump has repeatedly betrayed our Ukrainian allies in recent days. First, he announced a stunning deal with Putin to allow millions of barrels of diesel into the global markets, a move that will directly pump money into the Russian war machine. Then, he began a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy and said that Putin is easier to deal with. The backstabbing escalated when Washington failed to provide its usual early warning to Kyiv of an incoming Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears that the White House ordered a temporary disruption of Starshield, a military version of Elon Musk's Starlink that the Ukrainian armed forces rely upon. "The slowdown of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable lack of advance warning of Russian missile launches have already caused Ukrainian civilians to die unnecessarily," wrote Branson. "How much worse can it get?" "If one thing is clear it’s that European leaders must overcome the initial shock about Trump’s recent actions and step up to the plate. It’s as much about Europe’s freedom as it is about Ukraine’s sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "All options should be on the table now, from the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to the delivery of advanced weapons systems such as Germany’s Taurus." "Why oh why is this happening? We cannot let the free world be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded. We couldn't agree more. Trump is an enemy to Ukraine, an enemy to democracy, and an enemy to the American people. When Democrats retake power, we have our work cut out for us. Every last trace of this monstrous man's legacy must be erased. Please ❀️ and share if you think that Trump is Putin's puppet!

A forest isn’t just wood. It’s a masterpiece of nature: biodiversity, climate regulator, water keeper, and home to countless species. Destroying it for short-term profit isn’t β€œdevelopment.” It’s the liquidation of Earth’s natural capital, selling our children’s inheritance for pocket change.

A historic video of America’s betrayal – November 22, 1994. The U.S. President thanks Ukraine for giving up its nuclear weapons. In return, the U.S. promises to stand by Ukraine’s side to safeguard its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. But instead of defending Ukraine, Trump and his administration have sided with the aggressor against Ukraine.

Former Head of MI6 Sir John Sawers, "Russia was very keen that the Leave campaign should succeed and that Britain should leave the European Union" "Because that would marginalise Britain as a global player and weaken Europe in general" "That's the strategic opportunity the Russians spotted, and the leaders of the Leave campaign fell into it" My view: Former MI6 chief Sir John Sawers says Russia saw Brexit as a way to weaken Britain and divide Europe, and that the Leave campaign’s leaders walked straight into the opportunity. So let’s remember who sold it: VOTE LEAVE β€’ Boris Johnson β€” political figurehead β€’ Michael Gove and Gisela Stuart β€” campaign committee co-convenors β€’ Matthew Elliott β€” chief executive β€’ Dominic Cummings β€” campaign director β€’ Daniel Hannan β€” leading Brexit advocate β€’ Priti Patel, Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling, John Whittingdale and Theresa Villiers β€” senior Conservative campaigners β€’ David Davis, Liam Fox, Dominic Raab, Steve Baker and Douglas Carswell β€” prominent Leave campaigners LEAVE. EU β€’ Nigel Farage β€” leading political figure β€’ Arron Banks β€” co-chairman and major funder β€’ Andy Wigmore β€” communications director GRASSROOTS OUT / LABOUR LEAVE β€’ Peter Bone and Tom Pursglove β€” Grassroots Out co-founders β€’ Kate Hoey β€” Grassroots Out co-founder and Labour Leave campaigner β€’ Graham Stringer, Kelvin Hopkins and Roger Godsiff β€” Labour Leave campaigners β€’ Sammy Wilson β€” prominent DUP Leave campaigner They promised Brexit would make Britain stronger. Sawers says Russia saw the opposite opportunity: a Britain marginalised and a Europe weakened.

Here’s a positive wildlife story for once. The leading body of roofers have partnered with the bat conservation trust on new guidance. It just proves there is no excuse for anti-bat rhetoric! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Tony Benn’s 5 political questions: β€œWhat power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? How do we get rid of you? And if you can’t get rid of the people who govern you, you don’t live in a democratic system.”

Trees talk to each other. Underground fungal networks let them share sugar, send warnings about pests, and even feed their dying neighbors. The "wood wide web" has been running for 400 million years. We invented the internet 40 years ago. 🌳

Sadly incessant destruction of green spaces carries on countrywide due to @andyburnham @AngelaRayner No end to the misery. No #HOPE as Andy the PM promised.
Worth a read if you care about vanishing green spaces and nature in our cities and countryside. Eg #BristolZooGardens of course. Destined to have blocks of flats, a road and car parking all over it if the once-venerable Bristol Zoological Society gets its way… @bristolgreen

I don’t understand why anyone buys a new house built on a floodplain. (Those in older homes maybe subject to changes to the climate and their local environment since they purchased)
Warning more homes will be uninsurable due to flood risk. 6.3m homes & businesses in England at risk of flooding. 115,000 new homes will be built in flood zones in the next decade People will struggle to sell/insure property. Sue builders and planners. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c60q…

⚠️ High tides forecast upstream of the #ThamesBarrier today. The Barrier is NOT closing as no property flooding is expected. Monitoring the forecasts during my shifts today and tomorrow as a small tidal surge is forecast for Saturday which could generate another high tide.

A spring tide meeting the high river flows coming down the #Thames means we'll have a high tide upstream of Putney this afternoon. ⚠️ The forecast for tomorrow is higher still and we're making plans for a #ThamesBarrier closure tomorrow. As it's my shift tomorrow, I'll update.
