I was 17 years old and came across @Slipkicks Tekken 5 Nationals Run. Seeing the tech, safe gameplay and RLX evasion inspired me to pick up Eddy Gordo and be the best Tekken player in the world

Reposting with sound - I was happy to knock @PerfectLegend off his legendary Kung Lao in these grand finals, but I refused to just block on wake-up against his Raiden😆Fun set vs. the 2x back to back Evo champ.
Reposting without the sound issue - STLBADBOY is one of the main reasons for my success in Tekken. Fantastic training partner and his blatant use of Ogres team prepared me for anyone trying to steal an easy W with them. Eventually, I couldn't mess with this dude's Ogres lol just too much with how well he adjusted.
Fun fact; @TheAlexValle is not only known for his legendary Ryu in Street Fighter, but he was also the TTT National Champion (the first truly competitive Tekken imo). When your a prodigy I guess it's just like that lol Who knows how good he could've been if he made Tekken his main game?🤔
To me, these were the moments that garnered trust between the FGC and NRS games. With Evo top 8 littered with Superman players, the bugs of MK9, and the imbalance of the 3D era, a sign of good faith was needed that a new leaf had been turned. With proper patch updates, these moments delivered. Have times changed?
Here's a few T5:DR highlights from my ft20 set vs. Matador when I visited Osaka, Japan in 2008. Matador was considered one of Japan's best players at the time so it was an honor to play against him. It was an epic battle. I was up 18-16 but he refused to give up and got 4 reverse brooms straight on me to win 20-18. It was glorious even in defeat.
I love Soul Caliber. Great animation, sound FX, music, visual fx, character designs, ect. Never fully understood why this game didn't take off. Ring outs? Controlling your flight when getting air combo'd? Static movement? 🙄Tekken was simply first in - best dressed imo. Voldo is still one of the most creative characters I've seen and loved playing him. CEoST-SC4- Slips (VOL) v Fury (SEI) Grand Finals 2008
I loved fighting games growing up, but @unconkable showed me how deep the rabbit hole goes. It's deep. And the further you go, you find out you're not learning the game anymore, you're learning about yourself. Shaun won countless tournaments in multiple games. Was an Evo finalist multiple times. All while beating people's ass, talking shit, and taming their tempter at once lol truly one of STL's finest and no surprise where he's ended up today
2010 Extravaganza 14: Super Turbo HD Remix - Slips (Vega) vs Tahir (Dee Jay) - Grand Finals. I was a huge fan of ST: HD Remix. It was the first game to feature rollback netcode and took a chance to re-balance a classic which is known for already being broke. So why not? SFIV would release just a few months later. The game was never allowed to live
