Keep knowing that God did

There’s a saying that when God visits someone, it means He’s in the neighborhood. 🥹❤️ So when you see God doing something beautiful in someone else’s life, don’t envy them. Rejoice He hasn’t forgotten your address

You haven't wandered too far for God to bring you home. You haven't sinned too much for His mercy to reach you. You haven't fallen too low for His grace to lift you. You haven't made a mess too great for Him to redeem. There is no sinner beyond the saving power of Jesus Christ.

I have to admit, I always wondered what this part of Psalm 23 meant. I thought “He anoints my head with oil” was figurative language for God keeping the Psalmist healthy. I never knew this parallel. Anoint my head with oil “Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled. There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death. Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects. So the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil. Then there is peace. That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. Do you have times of mental torment? Do the worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over? Do you beat your head against a wall trying to stop them? Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil? He has an endless supply! His oil protects and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always! There is peace in the valley! May our good good Father anoint your head with oil today so that your cup overflows with blessings! God is good and He is faithful!!”

The four Gospels in your Bible are actually MORE different than most Christians realize and once you understand HOW, it completely changes the way you read them. Let me explain. First, you need to keep this in mind. Each Gospel was written by a real person, with a unique personality, a different purpose, and a particular audience in mind. Let’s start with Matthew. Ironically, Matthew was a former tax collector, a profession widely despised by the Jewish people... yet he writes his Gospel primarily for a Jewish audience. This is why he makes more than 60 references to the Old Testament. He also organizes Jesus' teachings into 5 major discourses, which many scholars see as paralleling the 5 books of Moses... And he presents Jesus as the new and GREATER Moses. His point? Moses gave us a law written in stone. Jesus gives us a new law written in our hearts. Mark is next. The book of Mark is the shortest gospel and was likely written primarily for Roman Gentiles. How do we know? Because Mark repeatedly explains Jewish customs and traditions that a Jewish audience would have already understood. Also, Roman society placed enormous value on power, authority, and status. And here comes Mark talking about how Jesus has those things but exercises his authority and power as a *servant.* That would've been a radical message to his audience. Luke is next. The Gospel of Luke was written with a broader Gentile Greek speaking audience in mind. Luke, traditionally identified as a physician, was incredibly detailed and organized. In fact, Luke is the longest Gospel…and the longest individual book in the New Testament. He also wrote the *second* longest book in the New Testament… Acts (which is a sequel to the book of Luke). Luke is also the only Gospel that gives us detailed accounts of *both* the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus. He also places special emphasis on women, the poor, the marginalized and those that had been rejected by society. Why? Because salvation had reached beyond the religious, social, and ethnic boundaries people had established. Lastly, the book of John. It has been traditionally attributed to Jesus' best friend, his beloved disciple who very humbly referred to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved." Traditionally, many believe John was the youngest disciple, possibly even a teenager when Jesus called him. Now, John tells us why he writes his gospel in John 20:31. Basically, he just wants to tell people about Jesus so people can trust in Him and be saved. Interestingly enough, around 90% of John's Gospel contains material not found in Matthew, Mark, or Luke. It's almost as if he's saying: "I knew Him intimately. And you can know Him too." Here’s the bottom line. These are not four different stories. It’s one truth seen from four different angles, all pointing to the same King. And His name is Jesus.

I still remember the pregnant woman who was kidnapped by bandits and gave birth to twins prematurely in captivity. The bandit leader threw her newborn twins to his dogs. As the helpless babies were being torn apart, he raped their mother, who was still bleeding from childbirth. Imagine the screams. Imagine the helplessness. Imagine a mother watching her babies d!e in the most horrifying way, unable to save them. A kind of horror no human being should ever have to witness. She couldn't bear it, she ran mad immediately. Whenever I remember that woman, a cold shiver runs through my body. Somewhere, a family is still living with the unbearable pain of what happened to their daughter and grandchildren. No amount of tears can bring those babies back. No apology can erase that nightmare from the husband. This happened late last year, under this administration. Yet, some people are already campaigning for the same APC to remain in power. How does a government explain a country where innocent citizens can be kidnapped, brutalised, dehumanized and murdered? Have we become so politically blinded that the suffering of our fellow citizens no longer moves us? Don't you feel it when people are subjected to such horrors that should only happen in zombie movies? Shouldn't their lives matter more than party loyalty? How many more mothers must we watch suffer? How many more children must d!e before the government treats our security as the emergency it is? Our lives don't matter to this government. I feel like the people supporting this government are more evil and demonic than the government.
