Mark Carney's Liberals are posting crazy polling numbers we haven't seen from any party in a very long time. It's near total dominance with even Alberta getting swooped into CarneyMania. He's the most popular PM since Jean Chretien easily by a mile. He literally had a room full of Albertans, many of them Conservatives, on their feet applauding him the other night in Calgary. Not just applauding, they were loudly cheering him. The East and the West finally agree on a political level: they love Mark Carney. I know many people are saying this is typical of a first term honeymoon government. I don't think it is. I think this is something new that's unique to Mark Carney and it has a strong chance of being sustainable support in the long term, much like Jean Chretien's tenure in power. I think Canadians are deeply shaken by American aggression towards Canada. It has affected us on many levels. We're upset and even frightened by it. And for some reason, Mark Carney is the only leader we have full confidence in to protect Canada, no matter your normal party stripe. (It's important to note, Liberal numbers are driven almost exclusively by Mark Carney, it's not necessarily support for the Liberal Party) I don't see these conditions changing any time soon.
