So, what does the re-election of Donald Trump mean for climate change?
We can make some educated guesses based on his first term, his campaign, and the expressed wishes of his allies.
A few of my thoughts as a thread. 🧵
Thoughtful take on how Trump could win, from a focus group pollster.
I spoke with @DavidMuir, @JonKarl, and @LinseyDavis about what Kamala Harris did wrong in the closing weeks of the campaign… And also what I got wrong! #Election2024

Every State in the world has a legal and moral obligation to stop this.
We the leaders of 15 @UN and humanitarian organizations urge, yet again, all parties fighting in #Gaza to protect civilians, and call on the State of #Israel to cease its assault on Gaza & on the humanitarians trying to help

Well, maybe stop allowing the UK to sell weapons to the people causing the immeasurable grief. Use your actual power.
Today @AngelaRayner and I met members of the Palestinian community in the UK who have lost loved ones in Gaza, alongside Dr Husam Zomlot, Head of the Palestinian mission to the UK.
I am humbled by their immeasurable grief.
This horrific suffering must end, there must be an immediate ceasefire, and Israel must let unrestricted aid into Gaza now.

URGENT CALL
The North of Gaza where nearly 400,000 Palestinians live has been subjected to a complete siege for the last 17 days. No food, fuel, water, or medications have been allowed to enter the area. We are receiving reports about starvation, which has been responsible for the death of many children.
The area that includes the Jabalia Refugee Camp, Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia is constantly bombarded by Israeli air strikes, artillery, and tanks with indiscriminate shelling.
Hundreds of civilians, mainly women and children, were killed. Hundreds others are injured and many cannot reach medical facilities.
The three hospitals in the area, the Kamal Edwan Hospital, the Indonesian Hospital, and Al-Awda have been under siege for 17 days with hundreds of patients who cannot access food and medication. The hospital also cannot access fuel for the generators to perform life saving operations. The Indonesian hospital is about to collapse.
According to UNRWA, the Israeli army is refusing to allow first aid teams to reach injured Palestinians trapped under the rubble of their destroyed homes.
Many massacres were also committed in the North of Gaza, the last one in Beit Lahia killing 72 civilians and injuring many others.
We are continuously receiving calls for help from families under siege, including injured and pregnant women.
The Israeli clear goal is the ethnic cleansing of the North of Gaza.
We call on all people, human rights organizations and Governments to do whatever is possible to pressure the Israeli authorities to stop this terrible man made humanitarian disaster.

This story is one of the most disturbing I've ever covered. It's about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Palestinians in Jabalia are live tweeting as they prepare to face extermination. When did this become okay? Shame on the world.
