Hal isn’t likeable despite the writers, he’s likeable because of them. They deliberately gave him the sbharpest, most charismatic dialogue in the series and repeatedly showcased his competence in pivotal moments. The sympathy and appeal are fully intentional.

As you guys may have known from yesterday's news, my dad knew about me being a vtuber now. I just got confronted by dad about it when getting breakfast earlier and he asked if i am actually "Jeanne Hamada" and if that's where i got my rent money.
I said yes on both and he said (i am paraphrasing what he said here): "That's good. I saw your video, be careful with people online."
He gave me my plate of noodles for breakfast and walked away. I think he's happy that i can earn my own money nowadays. So yeah, Hamadad is supportive of me being vtuber!!!

Insomniac just addressed one of my main complaints with Wolverine.
