Perfetti’s better at driving offense on his own. Similar overall numbers in volume, but Mercer is more of a vulture with other linemates setting the table for him.
Kind of reminds me of the Meier trade where SJ wanted Jarvis. You’re not trading Stankoven or Blake and the next closest player is probably Nadeau. Everyone else is either too old or Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
I can think of the “similar to Mercer” player but don’t want to say it.

The Jets wanted a young forward from the core, someone a bit like Dawson Mercer, but perhaps even better than Dawson Mercer, whom they’d acquired from New Jersey. I don’t know exactly who that would have been from Carolina, but it could have been either Stankoven or Seth Jarvis.
