Today I learnt that Uganda imports eggs mostly from Zambia . 64 years after independence, and we're still importing eggs as if our chickens are using condoms 🤦‍♀️

Hello. Not everyone with a Masters Degree or PHD wants to go into academia. Not all graduates want the rigorous demands of academic output - writing, publishing, peer review- often with very little pay. So a South African may very well have a PHD but its purpose is not working at a University. Also, many graduates do not want a full time tenure as lecturers. Anyone who HAS a post graduate degree also knows that you don't have one lecturer for a course. I may teach IR, but my module may be SA Foreign Policy. 3 weeks later, another lecturer in the same course, comes to teach on China, or AI, the AU, Africa and Slavery. A post graduate degree is not about South Africa only. Anyway, the Summer break is over. Wish me luck, as I, a foreigner, begin a new chapter as a part time member of faculty. I will be teaching a post graduate module on Narrative Power In The Emerging World Order to INTERNATIONAL post graduate students. Have a nice day snd a sharpened gaze on the world around you. 😊

I only came across Kurai Makore through the recent tensions with his uncle, Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo @OfficialMukanya Having now listened to his music, I can honestly say the controversy has introduced me to an artist I may otherwise have missed. But what has impressed me even more is Kurai’s measured and respectful response. In this interview, he speaks about Thomas not simply as his uncle, but as his father, saying that whether through direct fatherhood or lineage, “a father is a father and must be respected.” For me, that level of maturity deserves respect. No publicity is bad publicity, they say… and in Kurai’s case, I think this controversy may have opened a few more ears to his music. 👏🏾 I’ve translated his interview from Shona into English for a wider audience. Listen to what he has to say: "My name is Kurai, which means to grow or grow up , and my father is my father regardless if its by direct fatherhood or lineage,my father is my father. So if he says no to playing his music I have to respect that. I had been "picking" meat from a pot still cooking and you know what that earned you if caught in that act, you'll get a slap. So I must listen. God must bless my father and going forward I will refrain from playing his music until he gives me the permission. I dont want to say too much but let's put a lid to this story. He told me what he told me and I have listened. It is what it is". Video Credit: Kudakwashe Chibvuri , ZiFM. @ZiFMStereo

Stop letting outdated narratives dictate your bucket list. Zimbabwe isn't just back; it’s setting the standard for authentic, high-voltage travel.

#Tikatsamwa... The feedback on our maiden beer, The Crucible Bohemian Pilsner is coming in thick and fast. We are stoked by the feedback, negative and positive. "Hi Herby. I think it is a good beer. It has this crisp, and refreshing taste. And very smooth on the throat. I liked it even without refrigeration. You just need to work on the price." If you have not placed your order, you are missing out. DM and let's get this amazing beer to you 🍻🍺🍻.
