A price of $200 a barrel, though, is extreme. Demand will weaken and be destroyed at prices well below that.

Big news: Indonesia is challenging the neoliberal Washington Consensus.
It is creating a state-owned enterprise that will be the sole exporter of major commodities like palm oil, thermal coal, & nickel.
The goal is to capture more value and increase revenue to fund development.

Welcome to the most asymmetric trade in modern financial history.
The thread below lays out why. The opportunity exists because capital has chased the AI trade while ignoring the physical assets AI requires to run โ assets that have quietly become the best-performing asset class of the decade. Since October 2020 when we first called for the commodity super cycle: QCI Total Return +217%, GSCI Total Return +205%, Gold +140%. NASDAQ trails at +130%. S&P 500 at +85%. The top three are all commodities. Yet oil cannot get out of its own way while copper and the broader atom complex prints fresh highs . That is the dislocation. That is the trade.
Get long. Buckle in. Hang on for the ride.
Forgive the longer posts in this thread โ attempting to mimic my old 10-bullet commodity takes. On to it.

Chinese EVs are coming to Canada, and some dealers canโt wait to sell them
As Canada opens its market to Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) through an import quota system, Canadian consumers and dealerships are eager to seize the opportunity.
Michael MacGillivray, an automotive dealer from Nova Scotia, Canada, believes that the entry of Chinese EVs into Canada could be a game-changer. He is currently actively working to secure sales rights for Chinese electric vehicles. This past April, MacGillivray joined other Canadian dealers at the Beijing Auto Show with the aim of establishing relationships with Chinese automakers and experiencing firsthand the models that may eventually be exported to Canada. (Since March 1, Canada has been issuing import permits for an initial batch of 24,500 Chinese EVs; nearly a thousand of these vehicles are currently en route to Canada.)
AutoPacific, a U.S.-based automotive market research firm, recently surveyed over 1,800 Canadian residents planning to purchase a new car within the next three years. The results revealed that 67% of respondents were either very or somewhat familiar with Chinese car brands, while 55% indicated they would consider purchasing a Chinese vehicle. Price, quality, and value for money were cited as the primary reasons for considering a Chinese brand. Respondents expressed significant curiosity about Chinese EVs and a strong desire for the opportunity to purchase models from China.
General Motors, Ford, Toyota, and Hyundai currently hold the top spots for sales volume in Canada. Limiting Chinese car imports to 49,000 units per year serves as a "safeguard" implemented by the Canadian government to manage the entry of Chinese vehicles into the domestic market; without such measures, Chinese cars could rapidly outcompete these technologically lagging incumbents.
In contrast, the United States continues to impose layer upon layer of restrictions. Politicians from both major U.S. parties have recently introduced various bills seeking to further restrict the access of the Chinese automotive industry to the U.S. market. Earlier this week, U.S. Democratic Representative Elissa Slotkin stoked controversy by claiming that Canada's decision to import Chinese EVs raises so-called "national security" concerns and could potentially jeopardize future trade negotiations between Canada and the United States.
Despite the concerted efforts of U.S. politicians to block their entry, a survey conducted by AutoPacific in the United States last year demonstrated that the American public's interest in Chinese cars rivals that of Canadians: 65% of U.S. respondents reported being very or somewhat familiar with Chinese car brands, and 51% indicated they would consider purchasing a vehicle from a Chinese brand. Currently, U.S. consumers can only purchase Chinese new energy vehicles through unconventional channelsโspecifically via Mexico, and potentially Canada in the future. Yet, this practice continues to attract a significant number of people to follow suit; trade protectionism will only serve to erode the competitiveness of American automakers.

Chinaโs largest semi-submersible smart aquaculture platform, Xin Huan 1, is almost ready in Sanya Bay.
135 meters long.
64,000 mยณ of aquaculture water.
Expected annual output: 1โ2 million kg of fish.
This is a floating sea granary.
China is turning the ocean into food security:
smart farming zones, nursery ponds, seawater circulation, and industrial-scale offshore aquaculture.
Chinaโs development logic is always the same:
Turn geography into infrastructure.
Turn infrastructure into capacity.
Turn capacity into national resilience.
The future of food will not only be harvested from land.
It will be engineered from the sea.

๐น๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ณ๐น ๐น๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ณ๐น Follow-up on Chinese EVs arriving in Canada: CNBC reports dealers are calling it โeye-opening,โ with strong consumer excitement. One buyer noted theyโll โdestroy the market in a good wayโ โ delivering real competition, choice, and affordability at just 6.1% tariff for the initial 49,000 vehicles.
This aligns with what Iโve been saying: BYD, Geely, Chery and others bring high-quality, competitively priced EVs that help families beat inflation, high gas prices, and oil volatility. More options mean lower costs, innovation, and practical relief for Canadians.
Openness to fair competition strengthens our economy and consumers โ not walls or fear. Letโs prioritize affordability and consumer choice.

This increased competition delivers greater choice, lower prices, better value, and protection from volatile fuel costs. Families can enjoy reliable clean transportation, significant long-term savings, and energy security โ no matter where oil prices head.
