Hey @RideDCTA one of your #GoZone vans is unloading passengers in the middle of the street (instead of parking) at #DentonSquare
@DentonGripes @dTXTransitPosts I was waiting to turn onto West Hickory, but the GoZone driver was stopped in the right lane and their passengers were getting out of the vehicle into the left lane. So I stayed put and got out my phone to take a picture

“While Mayor, I was often asked ‘how have you been able to afford this in #Copenhagen?’ I’d reply, ‘how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. So the city invested in the cheapest infrastructure… bicycling.” — @mortenkabell

Cars kill over 1.3 million people every year, and we somehow accept this as the cost of doing business. If airplanes killed 1.3M people a year, we would ground all airplanes until we figure out what went wrong. So why do we accept such horrifying outcomes with cars?

The economic cost of 2021 traffic crashes in the City of Denton was approximately $166 million.
Too often, analyses of transportation costs focus on congestion: time lost, fuel wasted, delayed shipments.
But the safety costs of our infrastructure are massive and far more significant, says @WSDOT Secretary @MillarRoger at the opening plenary for @BikeLeague's #BikeSummit22.

Imagine having enough money to spend on a billboard and thinking the best thing to do is chide kids for walking, instead of reminding adults in multi-ton cars of their legal obligations.

I understand why people get upset with speed cameras.
It's because they break our implicit socal contract that it's okay to speed as long it's only 5-10 mph over the limit.
That's also why car crashes are a leading cause of death.
It's time for new contract. #VisionZero

Guys really, trust me on this one, I’ve been researching/doing the math for ~ 25 years.
You can’t solve cars with cars. Not electric ones, not robot ones - no version of car provides a solution to problem of car.
Only not-car solves cars. There are tons of not-car solutions!

Wait, does this mean we're getting a real life Westworld?!?
Disney wants the robots in its parks to come alive. One goal: Setting them free from the confines of the rides and letting them wander walkways to turn the parks into, as one executive put it, "inhabited places." nyti.ms/3xVVmXX

We want LeVar Burton to host Jeopardy for the same reason we venerate Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers, and the same reason the show Ted Lasso is so popular. Our culture yearns for, and desperately needs, men who are kind and gentle, and who will teach that by example.
