Hey everyone, this hellsite has become less and less of a hellhome under Elon Musk. I, along with several other Denton twitter folks, will be migrating to bluesky. I'm dtxtransitposts on bluesky as well. We hope you can join us (we have join codes)!
Statement On Friday Oct 27th, Elon Musk tweeted “they absolutely want your extinction” in response to an open white supremacist. This is, like many things Musk has done, unacceptable. Twitter has been a captured platform, bigotry has been deliberately increased under the guise of “free speech” even as anti-fascist accounts have been banned. Social media deliberately uses friends and social connections as leverage to keep folks on it. Denton twitter, a collection of Denton social, political, and business accounts, is one such social fabric held hostage by the power of this dynamic. Today, many of us will be migrating to bluesky, a twitter-like app not run by an open white supremacist. We hope you all will follow us there.

The F.U.R.R.I.E.S. Act to ban “Furry” behavior in our schools now has the support of Governor @GregAbbott_TX and Speaker @Burrows4TX, who recognize the importance of keeping distractions out of our classrooms. Speaker Burrows has reassigned our legislation as House Bill 54, a low bill number that signals its priority status in the Texas House! I’m grateful that our leadership is taking this issue seriously and ensuring that Texas schools remain places of learning, not roleplaying. I’ve appreciated the conversations I’ve had with my own Smithville ISD Superintendent on this issue—our educators should be focused on teaching, not managing classroom disruptions from kids pretending to be animals. This is common sense. Let’s get it passed. #txlege

Ted you're a smart man, but will your donors allow you to read what's at the top of this chart?

The city of LA cut $17M from the fire department, but allocated over $100K for a transgender cafe and $170K for social justice artwork. Democrats would rather virtue signal than fund vital public works. Southern California is ablaze because of their reckless decisions.

sorry but leftists are coping just as hard as libs rn. Kamala didn’t lose bc of Palestine. wasn’t close enough to be that. voters want trump. Regardless of why. the left NEEDS to recognize we’re currently marginal and unorganized not pretend we already have a huge base.

Q: What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable? Trump: Well, I would do that and we're sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn't, you know, there's something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it... I want to stay with child care… So we'll take care of it. Thank you

Voter registrars *cannot register* undocumented immigrants. we can fill out the paperwork with anyone, if someone doesn't tell us their status, that's not our fault. We drop it in the box. And then the elections office determines their eligibility and rejects ineligible ppl
steven monacelli@stevanzetti26 Aug 2024
After every investigation into voter fraud has turned up nothing, some high ranking Republicans in Texas have pivoted to a new talking point: undocumented immigrants are being registered to vote. But there is no real evidence and local officials, including conservatives, deny it.

Dallas, if you're confused by the provenance of the three charter amendments that will be on the ballot, let me spell it out for you: 🧵 1. A board member of a wealthy Republican donor's company created an organization called Dallas HERO to collect signatures for the proposals

Project 2025 calls to eliminate a program that offers universal school lunch in low income districts. Why would conservatives want to repeal a program that resulted in: • Higher math scores • Better attendance • Less stigma • Improved diet quality • Lower cost per meal

As a former geography teacher and self-proclaimed GIS nerd, I’m thrilled to proclaim today as Geographic Information Systems Day. Here in Minnesota, we are using GIS to make state government more effective - whether we’re replacing lead pipes or expanding homeownership.

I'm not live tweeting the city council work session, but I am watching it and the mayor just pushed back on guarantee tenant representation when folks get evicted bc "maybe someone is making $100/wk but buying $99 of lottery tickets a week" ???

He then followed it up by pitching that the city hold a small number of housing units for temporary relocations if an affordable development needs to redevelop or drasticly remodel an older building. Which is a good and interesting idea. Not sure what going on today.
