We are pleased to hear that the Gvt is looking to clamp down on unsuitable accommodation standards. @mhclg We hope the consultation will be a space to involve the lived experience of homeless children and then act on their recommendations to implement Awaab's Law.

Busy few weeks with our team attending 5 party conferences across the country. Positive change for children in temporary accommodation was demanded across all parties, and under @andyburnham's leadership, now's the time to commit to improving standards, safety and support.

New figures from the Museum of Homelessness & @NCMD_England reveal 51 children experiencing homelessness died in the UK in 2025. 63% of them were under one year old. All local authorities should be required to record and report homeless deaths in their area, including children.

We are deeply concerned by the report on @GMB of a woman being sexually assaulted in temporary accommodation. No one should ever face harm in a place meant to provide safety. Our thoughts are with her and with all families who deserve secure, dignified housing.

We welcome @mtpennycook's commitment in the Social Housing Bill debate to pursue changing legislation if guidance is insufficient. This would help reduce barriers for families who have survived domestic abuse to move out of temporary accommodation. @DannyBeales @jessphillips

Really pleased to see that children will now be at the centre of all discussions on homelessness. Canterbury City Council has also just completed consulting on its refreshed homelessness and temporary accommodation strategy, which for the first time will put children first.
