A test render of my own Marathon skin concept, exploring how the ARTIXCUS Tesser Operator could look in-game. Combining clean industrial design, tactical detailing, monochromatic armor, and subtle bronze accents, this concept brings the Artixcus identity into @MarathonTheGame's futuristic universe.

It just won a 2026 VEGA Digital award. ❤️ It was such a fun piece to work on and am still pinching myself that we effectively made "Thriller in Space". 🤘

Now, I wish I had the time to make stuff like this again, but if we’re talking #MarathonART, I WILL be the number one Sekiguchi genetics shill 🐛

'Twas the Night Before Cryo 🧊
'Twas the night before Cryo, when all through the Marsh,
not a Runner was looting — the darkness too harsh.
The kits were all stocked in the Vault with great care,
in hopes that the Compiler soon would be there.
The Rooks were all nestled, low-stakes in their beds,
while visions of Vault keys danced in their heads;
and chat with their emotes, and I with my knife,
had just settled in for the worst night of my life.
When out on the comms there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my pod to see what was the matter.
Away to the cryo bay I flew like a flash,
tore open the hatch and spilled half of my stash.
The frost on the floor of that derelict deck
gave a shimmer of dread — I was already wrecked —
when what to my wondering visor should appear,
but a three-stack of sweats in their gold-tier gear.
Then a little old Runner, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than Wardens his blades they all came,
and he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Traxus! Now, MIDA! Now, CyberAcme too!
On, Arachne! On, NuCal! Sekiguchi, come through!
To the top of the Archive, to the Compiler's hall!
Now stab away, stab away, stab away all!"
As loot that before a bad third-party flies,
when it meets with a shotgun, drops right where it lies,
so up to the vaults all the Runners they flew,
with a sack full of keys — and the butter knife too.
He was dressed all in chrome from his head to his boot,
and his shell was all tarnished with frostbite and soot;
a bundle of Enzymes was slung on his back,
and he looked like a looter just opening his pack.
His HUD, how it glitched! His shields, how they glowed!
His Cradle was buffed and his backpack o'erflowed.
The hilt of his blade he held tight in his teeth,
and the frost, it encircled his head like a wreath.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and stabbed all the sweats, then he turned with a jerk;
then slotting a key in the vault door he chose,
and giving a nod, up the lift shaft he rose.
He sprang to the exfil, to his squad gave a whistle,
and away they all flew like a Misriah missile.
But I heard him exclaim as he dove through the light:
"Welcome back to the Factory — lose it all tonight! 🔪"

The process for this one was very linear, was expecting to make more thumbnails but decided I’d just commit
Also yeah no this isn’t like what the map will actually be, I have no idea, I just wanted to draw snow, would be pretty..cool…though if it were

🚨 MARATHON NEWS NETWORK — THE NO SPIN ZONE 🚨
The numbers are IN, folks, and the doom desk is very quiet tonight.
1.7 MILLION copies sold. In March, they told you 1.2 million and buried us. That's half a million Runners who showed up AFTER the funeral was scheduled.
Marathon OUTSOLD Gears of War. Marathon OUTSOLD Saros. I'll say that again for the people in the back refreshing SteamDB: a game they called dead in week one beat two first-party exclusives.
The analysts say the free week and the PvE update "did little to move the needle." Folks, you don't move a needle that's already pointed where you want it.
50,000 daily players. That's a sold-out baseball stadium. Every. Single. Day. MLB The Show needed $192 million to fill a ballpark. We do it for free.
And here's the stat the other networks WON'T show you:
17% of players have over 100 hours. 2% have over 500.
That's 34,000 Runners with 500 hours.
Wolverine's main story is 15 hours. Our people have played THIRTY-THREE Wolverines, back to back, and they're still in the queue. Half of Wolverine's players are already at GameStop trading in the disc.
And if you noticed daily players dip a little? Our viewers have JOBS, folks. Employment is the only thing that's ever beaten a Runner.
The game for adults is doing adult numbers.
The spin stops here.

Marathon has 50,000 daily active players I repeat, 50,000 and it's only October; just imagine the numbers in December and March if things go well.

if your squad can't clear first room get both commander tags and check for monitors in 1 minute and a half you're not gonna survive the 4-5 team control tdm regardless

i don't really wanna step into the troves of arguments going on but all i'm gonna say is i'm not a top 1% player by any means and i've adapted to spawn pushes in cryo. it is not that difficult to scoot into control in a sensible amount of time and idk how people see it that way

This is a sub t iq take 2830 is 1 minute and 30 seconds into the match it if it take about 15 to 20 seconds to leave spawn that means ur first room you literally have to just skip and if the optimal strategy is to ignore the dev intent of map we already lost and will keep loosing

Hey everyone, Del here.
Thanks to everyone who replied to our post last week! One of the things we heard was that spawn rushing and lobby clearing was making extraction sessions play out like a BR. We want there to be more survival cat and mouse to keep the tension high and make sure stealth is a viable strategy so every run is a unique story. We’ve also heard concerns about death spirals and gear loss. To that end, here's a few areas we’re working through thanks to your continued feedback:
➡️ Perimeter is getting a big update in Symbiosis and one of the goals we had was to create more places to explore and give players more options to escape and evade other crews.
➡️To mitigate Cryo Spawn rushes, we're exploring changing the Level 2 doors that connect spawn rooms to Level 3. And that guaranteed Security Monitor in Revival? We're going to change that and make it random. This will be shipping with Symbiosis.
➡️On the audio side of things, we're reducing the audible range for dinner bells, like exfil and locked rooms, by about 50% of its current range (so the audio is mostly contained to its local POI). We're also looking into limiting Key Room audio to only Gold rooms so stealth players have a better chance to get some proper loot. These changes are still being aligned on with our audio and design team, so some of this may yet change.
➡️In Symbiosis your friendly neighborhood Rook is getting some updates as well. Rook will keep whatever is in their default 4x2 inventory after death. Items in Rook's gear slots (weapons, shields, cores, implants) will still be lost on death. Rook also won't be able to carry a backpack that expands inventory beyond the default 4x2 slots but they will have a Faction upgrade that increases their inventory to 4x4. The goal with Rook is to give players an option for a lower-pressure way to collect credits, materials, and gear for future runs even if the other Runners in the zone are trying to take everyone's shoes.
That's some of the things we're working on for Symbiosis to address some of the feedback we've heard. Let us know what you think about these changes and what else is working and not working about the game! Thanks for your feedback, we're thrilled to continue building Marathon together and we'll have more Symbiosis updates as we get closer to December.

This wipe I'm focusing on teaching & helping close friends & building our understanding of the game. I'm hoping some find that process enjoyable, insightful, or can offer further guidance.
While I still want to play with friends, it also means minimizing giga-stacking. It's been eye-opening experiencing playing the game outside of a "stacked squad", and I want to be relatable rather than watching a far-off experience of the game.
Finally, doing this has given me perspective to how hardcore and punishing the game can be, and how it allows top teams to snowball while average teams get stuck in death spirals, even when exfilling. I really hope this changes in the future as even one day into a new wipe the gap is noticeable and there have been moments of frustration.
