Update on @Salt_Project_OS package repo migration efforts:
The Salt Install Guide has been updated to reflect the Salt package repository migration, and salt-bootstrap is non-functional as fixes to the scripts are underway.

For those looking at Mastodon, I've been on Fosstodon for a bit. Excellent community!

And @dendronhq has also created their own handbook, heavily inspired by the @gitlab handbook: handbook.dendron.so/
This is something I'm starting some work on with @dendronhq remote vaults because of the work done for multi-vault support, and imporing vault/knowledge dependency trees.
I presented on what I'm up to in July as a Dendron Greenhouse presentation:

I don't have experience with @logseq but I use @dendronhq (uses Markdown, plaintext configs, local-first, etc.) and initialize my vaults with git. Using @KeybaseIO is a way to have encrypted git repos, and it has worked really smoothly in my tests: book.keybase.io/git
For general takeaways from the book, Doctorow shared a link to this article from his personal website. (9/x)

Which reminds me of @beeple who had also created many Creative Commons licensed materials, in addition to his unstoppable amount of Everydays (over 14 years!). Creating all this work resulted in the unforeseen insane result of...$69 MILLION (8/x)

There is @jonathancoulton who did his "Thing-A-Week Project" and released many tracks under Creative Commons. He later created "Still Alive" which plays at the end of @valvesoftware's Portal. Since then? More music and wildly successful Kickstarters (7/x)

Fans loved Harry Potter so much that they would create and translate ebook versions of the books, quickly after release, and share online worldwide. In a big move, @jk_rowling released DRM-free ebook editions for purchase directly through Pottermore (6/x)

What eventually came of this? Lawsuit showed school laptops collected 58,000+ images (mix of photos and screenshots) from student laptops, but the true total was over 66,000+ (due to what had been deleted before investigation).
$610,000 settlement. (5/x)

Then there was that time in 2009 when a student was accused of popping pills. The evidence? A recording of him, through his school-issued laptop webcam, when he was at home eating @mikeandike candy! Parents and students were like yo, wat (4/x)

What eventually came of this? Sony BMG offered clean CDs for impacted users and paid them up to $150 for damages (2007). Sony was told: stop installing spyware. Hiding software, killing processes, and secretly harvesting info for ads = bad. (3/x)

The book mentions Sony BMG Records and the rootkits they included on audio CDs back in 2005. One thing I didn't know about was how other malware made use of how the rootkit was masking processes that started with a specific string (2/x)

That time @Sony BMG Records thought it was a good idea to include rootkits on their music CDs. On @NPR, a Sony BMG rep said, "Most people, I think, don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?" nytimes.com/2005/11/19/busin…
I recently read through "Information Doesn't Want to Be Free" by @doctorow (with forewords by @neilhimself and @amandapalmer!), and many mentioned instances of tech overreach are stuck in my head. Not to mention success stories of creators and non-DRM creations

With @dendronhq when on desktop, and @obsdmd on mobile (works well with Dendron notes). For work: my team has incubator files for specific categories that we dump ideas into. For personal notes: depends on idea, as I use a PARA-sorta method (thanks @fortelabs) in Dendron
