Codex OS is now Mutable OS. What began as an experimental document editor has grown into a FOSS, local-first programmable medium for documents, knowledge & computation. The new name reflects that evolution & avoids the increasingly crowded “Codex” name. mutable.ink

I’ve been adding some new plugins to READYChat recently. Here are two new ones: wiki and randomwiki. The first lets you get a quick summary from a Wikipedia article by name. The second one returns a summary from an article picked at random, fun way to discover new stuff.

A little village where time seems to stand still... Welcome to Bibury. Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Bibury feels completely untouched by the modern world. Walking past the iconic 14th-century stone cottages of Arlington Row and listening to the peaceful river feel like stepping straight into a classic English storybook. It is easy to see why the famous textile designer William Morris once described it as "the most beautiful village in England.

Tom Hiddleston reveals what the Loki directors asked him to do before he filmed the final throne scene "Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson gave me this amazing instruction 'Why don’t you go and sit in your trailer and have a think about the journey it’s taken to get here for you? Not for Loki, but for you" "I thought about the 15 years. I thought about Kenneth Branagh. I thought about Chris Hemsworth. All the original six Avengers. Every director, every crew member, every costumer, every makeup artist" "Of course I’m playing Loki, and Loki’s holding all the timelines together. But in my own heart, I’m holding all those people...Loki is sitting alone at the end of time. But I’m sitting here with all of you so be in it with me"

Everyone’s seen the Sketchpad demo. Few understand how it actually works. I reimplemented Sketchpad from scratch, and I’m making short videos that recreate Sutherland’s demos and explain how they work. The first 8 are up — from drawing a line to the famous rivet. Link below 👇

In 1990 Andreas Kromke (the author of KAOS TOS, the heavily modified and performance-tuned TOS for the ST range) looked at TOS and said: one program at a time? No, thanks. Mag!X was born, later MagiC: a real multitasking OS for the Atari ST, with several GEM apps running side by side in their own windows, and still happy with software written for TOS. It was a commercial product for years. Then Kromke did something few authors do: he opened the complete sources under the GPLv3. And this year he shipped MagiC 6.30 for Atari computers. In 2026. On a 68000. Respect. Normally MagiC boots from disk: TOS starts first, then a loader pulls the kernel into RAM. We thought that was a waste of perfectly good RAM, so we built the MagiC ROM Builder. It turns MagiC 6.30 into a 256 KB ROM image that boots in place of TOS, plus the boot floppy or hard disk files for its desktop. Everything happens in your browser, nothing to install. Flash it with the SidecarTridge TOS Emulator on an STE or Mega STE, or on an ST or Mega ST with the 256KB Decoder. No TOS needed, around 240 KB more free RAM, and it boots straight into a multitasking desktop. Build your ROM: magic.sidecartridge.com/ MagiC sources by Andreas Kromke: gitlab.com/AndreasK/Atari-Ma…
