Today I'm calling on @GovBobFerguson to declare a state of emergency: the expiration of SNAP benefits for nearly one million Washingtonians will be a disaster for the health of many, and for the economic health of the state. We must join other state governments and act swiftly.

What should a national audience know about how 43rd L.D. residents and other Washingtonians feel about what happened on Olympic Peninsula?
In Washington firefighters you see the failures of both corporate Dems locally and MAGA Republicans federally: under-resourced, often incarcerated and/or immigrant fire crews working for starvation wages while braving ICE raids.
When authoritarianism follows austerity, we lose.
Fight as we must to resist these deplorable border patrol raids, if Washington’s wildfire response funding isn’t restored during the 2026 legislative session, state Dems haven’t much higher ground than Trump.
It’s a high priority for my office next year.
