Last week, the Portland Police Bureau killed Kylo (their own dog) and a human person.
In stead of just telling us that, PPB chose to execute a media blitz to try and convince the public they were sad that the dog was killed (passive voice) & that we should feel bad for them.
The OPA hasn’t posted closed case summaries in over three weeks.
Over the weekend, OPA tabled at the CID Night Market, which connects with the community about the Office of Police Accountability. We shared information about our systems, encouraged participation in our community survey, and invited folks to our upcoming Symposium on 10/22.

People really overestimate the impact a chief can have on a department.
They definitely can’t “change the culture” or implement accountability. Historically, chiefs, including the vaunted reformer Chief O’Toole, have been incredibly lenient on misconduct.
Imposing harsh discipline risks the ire of the police guild and alienating the rank and file. The best they can do is tinker around the edges with policy tweaks and “reforms” like Before the Badge.

They failed to mention that they had restrained him for several minutes & he was complaining of pain in his side before that.

Yolanda Ramirez, 72, died during arrest in Contra Costa County, CA in 2025. Police said cause of death was stroke and her poor health. Second autopsy found she died from head trauma caused by cops during arrest and classify her death a homicide. This is a common scenario with medical examiners tied to the police state explaining such deaths as being due to pre-existing medical problems with private autopsies finding fatal trauma. The lying police state includes medical examiners and coroners throughout the country. This is going to be a long lawsuit.

He’s a jumpy goober (not a good quality for a SWAT officer) who’s green af and startles easily.
This shooting was likely negligent to boot. In the video, you can see his finger curving toward the trigger guard.
