In less than 12 months, I have over 30 years of teaching experience leave just 1 faculty in 1 school because of the pay and conditions. More are looking at leaving. Today’s announcement is not going to help retain or replace them. #HonourtheDeal. @ChrisMinnsMP @pruecar

I've had a bunch of close friends leave teaching and start working in the private sector. Without fail, every single one of them says they are less stressed, their work/life balance is better, and their mental health is better, even though some are making less money.

12:05 AM and just finished for the night. Year 12 Reports and Year 8 Assessment Task. Still have a job application, a NST observation report and a bunch of marking outstanding. But hey, at least I got to spend some time with my son tonight before he went to bed. #morethanthanks

Collapsed classes, minimal supervision, senior students sent to the library for individual study - all of which means students are not being engaged with the lesson as much as they would otherwise be.
This is a daily occurrence now, and partly why I am striking today.
