Says the National Anti-Vivisection Society: “In order to take up charitable status, the Navs would be obliged to give up our work to change the law on animal experiments, including drafting legislation, working with government departments and educating legislators around the world, in addition to our public education work.
“In our view, this work is the most important thing we can do to achieve lasting protection for animals and so our members have made the decision that the financial benefits of charitable status must be sacrificed, to do what is right and necessary for animals.”

Thank goodness precious @BetsyAmbassador was saved from the vivisection lab. Let’s protect all future Beagle puppies (did you know that a shocking 2,000 are bred to die in the UK each year?) Betsy can’t ask you herself. Luckily, her hero @rickygervais can! He wants pointless, ineffective and cruel animal testing to end – urgently. Why should anyone wait 10 years, as some high-profile campaigns suggest? Dog years are so very short; every day of suffering is one too many.
When @Dogs_Today looked into this story, we were appalled. There’s a little-known ancient law that muzzles charities and prevents them from campaigning! Who knew? Look at the science – these ghastly tests don’t advance medical science. Many cures were delayed by testing on animals.
