if all you do is playtest ttrpgs and/or stream playing ttrpgs, i strongly deeply passionately encourage you to take some of the people you trust most and gather together and play for the sake of playing for a bit

please, to all my american friends. i’m fucking begging you to call your representatives. please, even if you don’t fucking post anything or say anything just please CALL THEM. please this is a chance to do something for us and for every nation affected by that terrorist state.
BREAKING: For the first time in US history there will be a vote in Congress to block weapons to Israel. Sending Israel weapons is a violation of US law and opposed by a majority of Americans, who are sick of seeing their tax dollars fund Israel’s war crimes against Palestinians.

Steam's Woke Detector does not recommend Disco Elysium. My personal highlight, however, is: "Heavy social commentary regarding communism. Whether pro or anti is unclear."

tabletop RPGs are not uniquely or exceptionally "storytelling games" (although storytelling can occur during them, and we can tell stories about what happened) and by focusing on storytelling we miss out on a bunch of other important aspects of game design
What TTRPG opinion would get you in this position?

FUCK. i get it now. 'sunrise parabellum' is a counterspell to 'tequila sunset'. tequila sunset is giving up and embracing the void. sunrise parabellum is knuckling down and fighting for life. jesus christ

Why keep dealing with a TTRPG company you have to push back on every 3 months for making bad decisions when you can support a little goblin who emerges from their burrow once a year asking $10 for the weirdest fucking game you've ever played

I’ve been thinking about this for a while but it’s an interesting alchemy by which WotC’s misbehavior becomes an argument TO play their game
Indie games are hard to almost impossible to pirate without nuking your pc. Pirating DnD is trivial, moral even

if the following phrases speak to you then i think seven part pact is up yr alley: - prosocial rules lawyering - asymmetrical worker placement - designated antagonist GM - everyone gets a DMG - almost entirely in universe magic grimoire - starchart as central game mechanic
i've released a new draft of THE SEVEN PART PACT, my insane wizard game that i've been working on for the past year+, on the possum creek patreon! you should go check it out if you're interested in wizards, crunchy mechanics, or patriarchal power structures

So, here's my followup to this question: When you put forward situations like this, what do you think it communicates about your own perspective on "evil"? How do we feel about the aesthetics of evil being divorced from the consequences and motivations of evil?

Because if I'm being honest, the vast majority of "good" adventuring characters in Traditional Fantasy Adventure MEDIA, not just games, would be considered quite evil, if they weren't saving the world, and it's not even a "dark take" stretch for that.

Replying to @sqwump
Here is something I think is true: The fewer vectors you have to differentiate characters mechanically, the MORE DISSIMILAR they will be. In 5E, say, you can say "I'm race + class!" and let that stand in for your personality. +

arguing with a cop over a ticket is the platonic form of an RPG. it has everything that D&D has (disagreement over rules, racism, violence) but it won't take you three months to schedule
