🇿🇦 White South African farmer brutally tortured in farm attack
A 50-year-old White South African cattle farmer, Donovan Marx, was brutally tortured during an attack on his farm in Syferfontein, between Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp in South Africa's North West province.
According to police, three unidentified armed men wearing balaclavas entered the property and tied up a farmworker before confronting Marx, shooting him in the upper body, dragging him into his house and restraining him with cable ties.
During the attack, Marx had both ears cut off, was severely beaten, shot in the back and stabbed in the leg. According to Agri North West deputy chairperson André Strydom, the attackers also attempted to mutilate his genitals.
The attackers stole three firearms from a safe and escaped in Marx's red Isuzu pickup truck. The farmworker eventually freed himself and alerted Marx's wife, Louise, who had left for work earlier that morning.
Marx underwent emergency surgery at Mediclinic Potchefstroom after suffering a kidney injury. Doctors reportedly managed to save the kidney. As of Thursday afternoon, he was described as being in critical but stable condition.

BREAKTHROUGH: Coca-Cola withdraws job advertisement after Solidarity intervenes
Coca-Cola has withdrawn a controversial racial advertisement after Solidarity initiated legal action against the company.
In the job advertisement for an internship aimed at unemployed young people, Coca-Cola stipulated that the candidate must be black.
There is no moral justification for classifying unemployed young people according to race. There is also no obligation on companies to include racial requirements in advertisements.
On the contrary, racially exclusive advertisements are unlawful. The inclusion of race in advertisements is a self-imposed practice by employers that must be stopped.
Among other actions, Solidarity initiated a process against Coca-Cola at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), of which the United States is a signatory.
Part of this process involves placing the company on formal terms. Coca-Cola responded in writing, undertaking to withdraw the advertisements immediately and to begin an internal process to ensure that this does not happen again.
In the meantime, Solidarity will continue engaging with Coca-Cola to ensure that racial exclusion does not arise again in future.
Solidarity will also continue its campaign against racial stipulations in advertisements and South Africa’s broader race-based policies. Approximately 20 companies with exclusive racial requirements have been identified, and action is planned against them.
These companies are not only acting immorally but are also in breach of various laws and international conventions.
This also constitutes a violation of the terms of the settlement between Solidarity and the South African government, under the supervision of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which also forms part of a court order.
