There's pretty horrific damage to infrastructure in Port Vila, Vanuatu, after the 7.3 magnitude #earthquake today.
We're seeing flattened/collapsed buildings, rubble everywhere.
Thankfully though, the tsunami threat has been cancelled.
Thoughts are with the people of Vanuatu RN
Thinking of all the affected communities in Vanuatu, and all the first responders who won’t be getting much sleep the next few days. Yufala tuff tumas 🇻🇺❤️

Emergency and critical care is a priority across our region. I loved hearing from experts yesterday at @EmergEdu Global Emergency Care Symposium and was pleased to share how Australia is supporting this essential work.
What a day! Humbled, inspired, filled with thoughts and ideas, and excited to have caught up with friends and made wonderful new connections. Grateful to all those who shared their experiences yesterday.

🇵🇬 Member for Bougainville, the Hon Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, became part State of Origin history when he carried out onto the MCG a forgotten piece of silverware. The trophy, engraved with “Interstate Rugby League Series, Bougainville” is from the first ever Origin, played in PNG.

The lack of engagement from medical colleges on this health and human rights issue has been a source of disappointment for many. Very pleased to see @acemonline @NursingCENNZ and other ANZ emergency care groups strongly advocating for an enduring ceasefire acem.org.au/News/June-2024/E…

Aid posts provide primary health care for most of PNG and provide access for villages. Sadly, only 10 of 21 provinces improved since 2016, and 12 provinces remain below the target of having 85% of their aid posts open. Alarming drop for Western, while strong improvement for Manus

Excellent thank you
Nurses and midwives are key enablers in achieving #UHC. In the Western Pacific, they account for two thirds of health professionals.
#COVID19 highlighted their critical roles but also forced many to leave the profession. It’s time to protect and invest in those who protect us.
