Netflix is firing all of its top creative leadership after their strategy of make every character gay and trans and every white person black failed to produce strong subscriber growth.
LASIK eye surgery costs roughly $2,100 per eye today. In 1998, it cost $2,200 per eye. Adjusted for inflation, you are paying about 60% less for a procedure that has simultaneously become faster, safer, and more precise. That is what markets do when left alone.
Now compare that to a hearing aid. The FDA classified hearing aids as prescription medical devices for decades, locking you into audiologist appointments before you could buy a $3,000 device that a manufacturer could produce for $300. Or, look at insulin. Heavily regulated, patent-extended, and politically manipulated, a vial of Humalog ran over $330 in 2024 versus roughly $21 in Canada for a biosimilar. Same molecule. Different regulatory environment.
LASIK sits in a peculiar gap. Insurers rarely cover it, which means third-party payment schemes never severed the price signal between provider and patient. You shop, clinics compete, manufacturers race to improve technology. The feedback loop that markets depend on functions exactly as it should.
Regulated medical markets break that loop deliberately. The FDA's approval process costs pharmaceutical companies over $2.6 billion per new drug on average, erecting barriers that protect incumbents and punish smaller competitors who cannot absorb a decade of compliance costs. Patients then pay the premium on the back end.
LASIK is the control in the experiment. The market won.

I’m telling you now - cut off the money supply completely and most of them will leave of their own accord, free of charge to the taxpayer.
It’s the welfare state that attracts all parasites - foreign and domestic.

If you need to be protected from yourself so you don’t spend money you literally do not have, you also shouldn’t vote. Clearly, you’re bad at making decisions and have poor impulse control.

"This credit card system that explicitly relies on millions spending irresponsibly and not being able to pay it back in time? That could never happen to me, who already made 30$ back in some cashback event, so I can only assume this could never happen to you."

More than 120 students signed a petition calling for McGill University to allow a 61-year old man who strangled a woman to death and left another severely disabled back on campus. The killer is serving a life sentence but living in a halfway house and is allowed to attend the law school.
The parole board refused his day parole request in 2022, judging him to be a "moderate to high risk of re-offending," but the refusal was overridden by a court that found that board erred in not taking account his Indigenous identity in reaching its decision. The Gladue Laws require leniency for indigenous criminals. His parole was briefly rescinded in May 2025 after it was found that he had collected the phone numbers of various women but has since been restored.
The McGill law student's association accused the university of "undermining the principle of rehabilitation."
"“We are shocked by the reactive manner in which McGill University has responded to this issue,” the association’s executive wrote Saturday in an email obtained by The Gazette.
“As law students, we are taught to recognize the injustices perpetuated by the criminal justice system and to understand the importance of rehabilitation and offenders’ rights,” the email said. “It is therefore especially disappointing when our university, presented with an opportunity to guide us through critical learning, fails.”
With 120 student lawyers like this, Canada's justice system can look forward to becoming even more fucked than it is already is.

She was brought in for the annual banquet of the Washington chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), listed by the Obama Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, the largest terror financing trial in US history, whose leaders were convicted for funneling money to Hamas, a US designated terror organization
