I fail to understand why anyone ever calls for verges to be mown in the spring or how councils can allow it. How is THIS messy or unkempt? It is utterly beautiful, an incredible and a very much needed wildlife habitat.

A 2021 study found that people who had taken psychedelics reported a 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 in their connection to nature. Not just during the experience. 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. This effect was stronger than any other measured correlate of well-being. Stronger than: meditation, therapy, or exercise. The word researchers used was: "𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴." Basically, the plants want you to come back.

A tale of two species. Why is it so easy to release into the British countryside *tens of millions* of one species- non-native, often harmful pheasants; while it’s virtually impossible to release another- native, vital beavers? Very odd. ecohustler.com/nature/a-tale… @Ecohustler

Early accounts from Papua New Guinea described people eating a wild mushroom and suddenly seeing tiny, lifelike figures moving around them, a rare “lilliputian” hallucination. Decades later, the same reports surfaced in Yunnan and the Philippines. All lead back to one species: Lanmaoa asiatica. And still, no known psychedelic compounds have been found. Researchers are now sequencing and analyzing this mushroom to understand what’s behind these consistent effects. A new molecule? A biological mechanism we haven’t seen before? An opinion poll conducted in January 2025 for the Lynx to Scotland partnership shows that popular support for the return of #LynxToScotland has increased to 61% – a significant rise since the last such survey in 2020 – with the number opposed now down to just 13%. If the Scottish government is serious about its ambition to “regenerate biodiversity across the country by 2045”, it cannot afford to rule out reintroducing missing native species like lynx. Send the First Minister a message to show your support for a nature-rich Scotland. 📷 scotlandbigpicture.com/lynx-…
