A lot of samplers support Soundfont2 which includes e.g. the key and velocity ranges. TAL sampler can import SFZ which is a similar format. This is also supported by SampleRobot. Using those formats is easier and faster than importing single wave files since mapping is included.

That's a good idea to capture all sounds before selling the rack units. If you need 24 bit recording and export depth and VST2 sampling SampleRobot Pro would be best, otherwise SampleRobot Multi-X would do.
