“… he still rules largely alone …” There’s a 19th C term for this — ‘splendid isolation’. Most mistakenly think this means uniquely in power to the exclusion of all others. It actually means a delusional ruler steeped in hubris who unbelievably squanders a historic mandate.
With the House and Senate gone, #Trump is a lame duck at home and could be facing impeachment. Other countries need to watch out; FP is where he still rules largely alone. What he loses in #Washington, the world may pay for. Can Congress restrain him abroad? 🤔

Workshop on Technology Foresight | Technology Dialogue 2026 At the Technology Dialogue 2026, the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) is organising a Workshop on Technology Foresight on 2 December 2026 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. The pace of technological advancement is reshaping the way economies, institutions and societies prepare for the future. As emerging technologies increasingly intersect, there is a growing need to assess their long-term implications, identify potential areas of disruption and develop informed approaches to technology governance. The workshop will examine potential technological pathways through expert inputs, interactive deliberations and group-based exercises. It will introduce established foresight methodologies and explore the use of advanced digital tools, including AI and machine learning, to assess future technology trajectories. Discussions will also consider how foresight-based insights can inform research priorities, investment strategies and national technology planning. Pre-registration closes by: 15 November 2026. Click here to register and know more: technologydialogue.in/landin… Kindly note that the participation is subject to selection. @iiscbangalore | @DSCI_Connect | @samirsaran | @ChagunBasha | @godvinayak

"India's maritime ambitions are entering a new phase. As global trade, supply chains, energy transitions, digital connectivity, and geopolitical competition increasingly converge at sea, the oceans are becoming central to India's economic growth, strategic influence, and global partnerships. Guided by the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, the evolution from SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) to MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) reflects a broader vision that extends beyond maritime security to encompass shipping, shipbuilding, ports, logistics, connectivity, maritime services, skills, sustainability, and the blue economy." @samirsaran

Participated in the roundtable on “The Diffusion Dividend: UAE–India–Africa AI & DPI Compact” at the Raisina Middle East Dialogue, recently convened by the Observer Research Foundation in Abu Dhabi. On the sidelines, it was wonderful to interact with young Indian tech entrepreneurs and founders. This generation thinks big, thinks boldly & is ready to shape the future through innovation. Grateful to the organisers for this timely initiative, especially as the world navigates complex geopolitical challenges. Strengthening collaboration across India, the UAE and Africa in AI and Digital Public Infrastructure holds immense potential for inclusive growth and shared progress. @orfonline @samirsaran @meaindia @mofauae @orfmiddleeast
