This is well worth your time! Real stories honoured so beautifully through the songs of Sean and the @theyoungunstrio

Always love the #FolkShow with @themarkrad - so aligned with the seasons Listening while walking a newborn asleep, reflecting on change, migratory birds, new music, new chapters, the smell of the crisp fresh mornings air, the warmth of home… bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00235…

Happy 199th birthday to the world’s first public passenger railway @sdrfestival To celebrate, a new song has just landed! Listen now 🎵 samslatcher.com/post/first-t… ‘Pioneers’ is the opening track from a new album ‘Passengers & Pioneers’ due for release March 2025 #Railway200

Absolutely love that @hopetowndarl features the famous conversation between George Stephenson & Edward Pease in 1821, when Stephenson persuaded Pease trains were the future. It is the inspiration of a new song coming out Friday: samslatcher.com/post/first-t… #Railway200 @railway200

Fantastic! I remember a rapturous set from @billybragg at the Gala back in 2018, after @SteveMPledger. So enthralled in meeting Billy I accidentally spilt his pint all over him and bought him a new one! 😝

Sunderland is not the scene we saw last night, despite the intent of a few descending upon the city to stir up hatred. The #Sunderland I know is fully of decent people who look out for each other. We’re a bridge across the river, a sanctuary by the sea youtu.be/BjNb94UW8tQ?si=USak…

5 wonderful gigs across the North East for the Stories of Sanctuary summer tour. Just 1 workshop left to go, a recording session and then a book festival before I wind things down before the new baby arrives… …assuming she doesn’t come early 😅

Last chance to see Stories of Sanctuary! Meet the incredible singers and musicians and be mesmerised by the soulful sounds of heartfelt songs Place Green Stretch Tent, @durhamfringe 7.15 TONIGHT

I have become slightly obsessed with @LNER’s Together #Pride livery and it seems to be following me this week. How could you not photograph it crossing Durham Viaduct and standing under the magnificent ‘Cathedral’ that is Newcastle Central (as @TheRestHistory aptly puts it!)

This will be something rather special… @durhamfringe @ThisisDurham

A very moving evening! Thank you to the team at @nclcathedral for supporting this project. I’ve been genuinely blown away by the ethos of the cathedral, their commitment to giving voice to those who are voiceless and putting people of the city at the heart of what they do. 🙏

Every year it catches me by surprise, that visceral feeling of solidarity. The thump of the bass drum, the rallying cry of the trumpets, that lump in throat moment at #DurhamMinersGala.

Had a lot of fun last night teaching a new song to me, ‘See Me’ written by @StorytellerSean from the Young’uns who will be a guest performer at next week’s concert at @nclcathedral. We also learnt Bushee’s #RefugeeWeek anthem ‘Someday’. Come hear these and more next week!

This will be the test of the new gov’t. When @Keir_Starmer says he will respect everyone, I hope this includes those seeking sanctuary who were punished mercilessly under the last gov’t. May this be a season for a kinder politics of care for all

Great to meet the ‘Get Your Bum on Board’ @gonortheast bus who will make sure you get to the @durhamfringe in 3 weeks time! The festival includes Songs of Sanctuary by @CitizenSongs at Palace Green’s Stretch Tent at 7.15pm on 24 / 26 July: Tickets/info: durhamfringe.co.uk/events/du…

Still going round and round my head! “If we ever meet again… and our story has an end…?”

#WorldRefugeeDay Come celebrate #RefugeeWeek with us at @riponcathedral tomorrow evening! We have an exquisite band featuring Raghad Haddad, singer Bushee, Oud player Bashar a choir of people seeking sanctuary from across the world @CityofSanctuary @BBCLookNorth @RefugeeWeek

Wow. Just wept my way through #LostBoysandFairies. So moving and achingly beautiful. Only 3 episodes long, but every second gripping. The power of storytelling to move the heart… bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m…

A song that captures the longing for home so beautifully. Meet the incredible Bushee who came and joined our rehearsals and gave us a song to song! #RefugeeWeek2024 #OurHome
