Absolutely love that @hopetowndarl features the famous conversation between George Stephenson & Edward Pease in 1821, when Stephenson persuaded Pease trains were the future.
It is the inspiration of a new song coming out Friday:

The poisoning of the public discourse on Muslims, migrants and refugees has been consistent and deliberate.
An anti Muslim agenda has been pursued by some in politics , the media and some think tanks and we have to be brave enough to call it out. They have created the climate that we now see play out in our towns and cities and they are as much to blame as the thugs on the street.

The wave of hate & misinformation we’re seeing in Britain right now is funded & fuelled by advertising.
It’s advertising that has enabled some media to profit from inflammatory clickbait” stories targeting migrants: theneweuropean.co.uk/daily-m… /1

England haven’t been convincing so far, but without players born outside the UK or with at least 1 parent or grandparent born abroad, we wouldn’t still be here. And today, we’d be down to just 3 players.

Today we join 300 organisations and 500+ individuals in calling on @10DowningStreet to fundamentally overhaul our broken asylum system.
We need a new approach: one that protects people seeking safety, rather than punishing them for political gain:

What a night! I couldn’t be more proud of our 4 new @TheGreenParty MPs. And what strikes me most is that every single vote they won was a vote not for the least worst option, but a positive joyful vote for real hope & change 💚 @carla_denyer @AdrianRamsay @sianberry @EllieChowns

Lovely to run into @lizzie_lovejoy on the train just now!
I left with a tune in my head ‘all that matters is: I’m going to see you’ then remembered they were Lizzie’s poem (+ then song!) we once sung on a train! 📸 by @LonelyTower youtu.be/d3FlsjtrwpA?si=uVdn…
