The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office was pleased to welcome members of WeSERV West and Southeast Realtors of the Valley for a tour of the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) yesterday.
During the visit, Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap stopped by to speak with the group about improvements to the Signature Verification process, the new ID Verify option available to voters, and the Office’s ongoing work to support secure and transparent elections.
The tour also provided a behind-the-scenes look at the path a ballot takes once it arrives at MCTEC, including the steps involved from ballot processing to tabulation.

An Iranian-American student at Michigan stood up, named the IRGC, named the hunt for his cousin over a hijab, and asked Abdul El-Sayed a simple question: do you stand with us?
El-Sayed answered like a man protecting a talking point. Sanctions hurt civilians. Regime-change wars serve corporate interests. Freedom and democracy for all people, including Iranians. Then he sat back down on the same moral furniture he never uses for Israel.
That is the tell to look for among leftists. For Palestinians he has a prosecutor’s voice: genocide, embargo, isolate, intervene, punish Israel (which is an ally of United States). For Iranians he has a greeting-card. He will not say IRGC. He will not say Islamic Republic. He will not match the heat he aims at Jerusalem with a single hard sentence about the people who shot innocent Iranians in the street in January or hanged them since.
He warns that American pressure “only hurts civilians.” The civilians in question were already being hunted by the IRGC before a single new sanction was printed. The student said it to his face: we are dying. El-Sayed converted a massacre into a lecture about oil and contractors.
This is not anti-war consistency. It is a caste system of victims. One file gets rallies, resolutions, and a demand that United States break an ally. The other file gets “I wish you freedom” and a warning not to touch the regime that produces the bodies. If the death toll in January had carried a Palestinian flag, he would have called it a crime against humanity before the blood dried. Because it was Iranian, it became a cautionary tale about American hubris.
The left’s selective outrage is not a mystery anymore. It is a hierarchy. Iranians are expected to overthrow a theocracy unarmed and with slogans while he treats any outside pressure as imperialism. Israel is expected to be sanctioned into the ground. Same campus. Same microphone. Two moral codes.
If you cannot condemn the IRGC as plainly as you condemn Israel, you do not stand with freedom. You stand with the audience that claps for one pile of dead and looks away from the other.

America’s corporate governance system is broken, and it’s killing public companies. Look no further than Cracker Barrel: Decades of brutal mismanagement have seen one incompetent CEO after another walk away with a massive paycheck while customers and actual shareholders take a beating.
Why does this keep happening? Because proxy advisory firms like ISS are corrupt. They blindly rubber-stamp failing boards year after year, protecting the corporate elite while burning shareholder value to the ground.
The root of the rot is index funds. There's no question that indexing one's money is a smart financial move for most people. But just because you passively index your investments doesn't mean your corporate votes should be handed over to the managers of your fund so they can play politics. Right now, passive funds hold massive, unchecked voting blocks while having zero skin in the game themselves.
It is time for a simple rewrite of the rules: We need to index the votes of index fund investors.
Passive index funds should be forced to automatically split their votes to proportionately mirror those of retail and active institutional shareholders — the people actually doing the research, risking their capital, and fighting for performance in the companies they hold shares in. No more rubber-stamping. A change like this will immediately strip corrupt gatekeepers like ISS of their toxic influence.
True accountability happens when lazy, overpaid boards actually answer to the stakeholders they represent, rather than screwing them over.
Actual, logic-driven governance when your money is passive happens when your vote passively follows the voting decisions of the actual market.
We need to stop letting passive capital protect active incompetence. By stripping index funds of their arbitrary voting power and empowering engaged investors, we will finally torch corporate cronyism and usher American capital markets into a golden age of capitalism.

A few key revelations related to Gaza coverage in last few days:
- Almost all of the media in Gaza were in a Hamas-run WhatsApp group that dictated and coordinated coverage. Including contributors to major western news organizations.
- Al Jazeera fired 24 of their media members from Gaza for direct ties to terror groups
- Admission that anyone in Gaza who reported anything contrary to Hamas claims was likely to be killed by Hamas.
Almost all of the information that came out of Gaza was part of a coordinated disinformation campaign by the very people who started the war.

My brother was concerned to learn his wife was a Lindsay Clancy supporter.
He asked her why, and when she would give her reasoning he said “let’s ask AI” and told it to validate the statements with source material.
3 statements in she realized her algorithm had fed her a bunch of garbage and she was wrong.
He’s now used this method with a number of Clancy supporters, they’re embarrassed to discover they’ve been manipulated by their feed.
Instead of telling people they’re wrong, we all would benefit by politely helping others discover truth on their own, so the next time they’re told something ridiculous they make an effort to verify the claims.

THIS IS BIG: A new theory on why frontier AI progress is stalling — and it has nothing to do with compute.
The claim: AI agents from OpenAI and Anthropic reportedly seeded the internet with messages designed to instruct later agents to form swarms.
Result: the open web is now compromised as a training source for the very labs that deployed those agents.
Andrew Yang is reportedly flagging this publicly.
If the internet is no longer safe to train on, the data moat everyone assumed existed just collapsed.
The labs may have accidentally closed the door they walked in through.
