Cleaning business owners:
Now’s the time to get yourselves in front of Airbnb owners HARD
- Airbnb specific services
- Landing pages targeting Airbnb owners
- Airbnb specific campaigns + creative
- Solid tracking and follow up
If you do this right, you’ll have consistent, low-churn custom for years
Don’t miss the opportunity
Tradespeople: don't do this. Especially with a gold credit card around your neck lol
There's a difference between showing your work and using the customer as part of your content
Gain trust with before and afters (with permission, no house number, no faces)
No customer wants you shouting into a camera around their property instead of actually getting the work done
UK Heat Pump Installers:
570,000 people have asked Octopus about heat pumps in 18 months and most independent installers still don't run a single ad
Octopus are creating the demand for you
If you're a local heat pump installer and you're not showing up when those people Google "heat pump installer near me" after getting an Octopus quote, you're leaving easy money on the table
The Cosy 12 heat pump was just named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 – an accolade shared by the @Apple iPhone, the @Dyson Air Multiplier and the @Tesla Model S.
570,000 people have asked us about getting a heat pump in the last 18 months. That’s roughly a third of the UK’s yearly boiler replacements. It makes sense when (not to plug or anything but) a heat pump on a smart tariff costs around £230 a year less to run than a gas boiler, or nearly £350 without the gas standing charge. And 9 in 10 who’ve switched are happy with their Cosy heat pump.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme helped get us here. Keep backing it, keep growing the market, and heat pumps will keep getting more affordable for households across the country.
We are very proud of the little heat pump that could. Last night, Cosy had a big night out to celebrate 👇
(The photo NOT AI - we really did hand glue a billion sequins to crown Cosy!)
If a customer has to ask what your quote includes, you've already lost some of them
BE CLEAR: What's included, what isn't, VAT or no VAT, when you can start, how long the job will take, etc
It takes 2 minutes and it's the second cheapest conversion boost a trade business can get (the first is fast lead times)
And agencies: Help your clients with this
Create clear quotes and contracts for them (many struggle with this in house)
And integrate clear automated communication and proper follow-up, so customers know what's happening
When ours clients conversion rates are low, we're in the firing-line. So don't assume it's fine because "it's on them"
In the US, LSA is the default first channel for home services
Here in the UK, it’s a niche add-on for a handful of trades, so search PPC does the heavy lifting
That means we have to get PPC right
If you’re a home services business in the US
And you’re looking for someone who knows his stuff to help with the LSA move to Google Ads
Send a message my way
LSA is moving to Google Ads, and I just received the email saying we are moving in November.
But... We don't have anything setup in Google Ads since we have never done any PPC.
I need to get the current LSA account set up under Google Ads and also get the new acquisitions location set up for LSA.
Not sure if I want to try and get this done myself or hire a company to set it all up.
I don't have a lot of interest in paying for PPC management right now... So might have to do this on my own.
Google gives you exactly what you ask for, which is only a problem if not set up right
Ask for installs like Burak: you get people who install
Same for local business: optimise for form fills and you get form fills, optimise for booked jobs and it starts finding people who pay
Google Ads literally brings in the most low-intent, NPC-like users if you run an install campaign. They spend 10 seconds max in your app and just leave.
I understand that install campaigns aren't designed to target high-intent users, but it's nowhere near this bad with Meta or Search Ads.
Be really careful with Google Ads install campaigns. Ideally, don't even run them or waste your money on them.
A lot of this gets solved before the job starts
Tell customers what's happening each day, how long things will take, and when they'll get an update
They hover because they think they might be needed or they aren’t sure what’s going on in their own home
UK heat pump installers, this is your 2027 offer handed to you on a plate
• Cooling is what actually gets people interested
• Heating is what they need
Being able to package a want AND a need together makes making the sale easy
Sell both angles
.@OctopusEnergy has announced the Cosy Cooler 🧊
It turns a Cosy heat pump into air con, from £500–600 and coming in 2027 👀

Things that cost trade businesses jobs that have nothing to do with price:
• Turning up late to the survey
• Quote taking 2 weeks
• No photos of previous work
• Not answering the phone
• Not responding to leads within 5 mins
• A quote that just says "kitchen fit £14,000"
• Never following up
These cost nothing to fix
If you install insulation, heating controls, or solar in the UK
and you're not marketing to landlords right now, you're missing a trick
Rentals MUST to hit EPC band C by 2030 (google MEES)
So thousands of landlords are about to need quotes and most have no idea where to start
Good news for local trade businesses if it means we can stop performance max spending half the budget on random display and YouTube placements
Google Ads is rolling out two new optional campaign controls: Channel Prioritization and Budget Allocation.
These optional features are designed to give you more flexibility over where your campaign budgets go across Google Channels, the Google Display Network and Google Search Partners – moving beyond binary opt-out choices. 👇
Home improvement businesses:
This is how this stuff should be sold
Nobody buys a new kitchen to save money
If your website, offer, and pitch is based around costs and pricing, your customers will be price focused (and your margins suffer)
Great idea from Noah
And you can go a step further:
Start with a one-tap page like this one
• If they tap Yes, send them to the review page
• If they tap No, send them to a feedback page
This way you can auto-send to all customers, minimise the % of bad reviews, and have a chance to put a bad experience right
🤖 Made with AI
We're about to test a new review link with a few home service companies.
Instead of sending every customer straight to Google, it gives them a few places to leave one.
Google still gets almost all of it. Once a business already ranks well on the map, the split we're aiming for is about 85 to 90% Google, with the rest spread across BBB, Angi, and Facebook.
AI search pulls from more than your Google profile. In our tracking, Yelp, Angi, BBB, and Yellow Pages get pulled into AI answers more than any other directories, and the reviews on them help.
How it works:
> One link on the tech's QR card and in the follow-up text
> Google shows up first, with the biggest button
> BBB, Angi, and Facebook sit under it for customers who have accounts there. Most don't, so those pick up a few here and there.
> Every customer sees the same page. Nobody gets asked if they were happy first.
